What You’ll Be Doing
Seeking an Analyst/Associate to support the Houston EIT (Energy, Infrastructure, and Transition) investment banking team focused on the upstream/E&P vertical. The role centers on producing presentation-quality maps, managing geospatial and subsurface data, and maintaining accurate, standardized technical databases for active M&A, A&D, and pitch processes.
Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to, map creation; georeferencing and digitizing spatial data; joining Excel-based datasets to shapefiles; creating drilling spacing unit (DSU) shapefiles; spotting drilling inventory; grid sampling to points and polygons; performing a multitude of other geospatial analyses; loading well headers, logs, directional surveys, formation tops, and core data into Petra; and creating and populating Spotfire projects with curated datasets.
You will be a critical and integrated member of our investment banking team contributing to advising clients on A&D and M&A transactions, capital raising, and C-suite/board-level presentations.
How You’ll Succeed
· Mapping and Spatial Analysis: Develop accurate, consistent, and presentation-ready geospatial analyses and mapping products that support asset evaluation and transaction workflows.
· Technical Data Management: Manage, standardize, quality-check, and integrate geospatial and subsurface data across ArcGIS Pro, Petra, and Spotfire to maintain reliable, deal-ready technical databases.
· Data Quality and Standards: Apply sound judgment and critical thinking to identify data issues, reconcile inconsistencies, and maintain disciplined quality control and standardized mapping practices.
· Transaction Support: Organize and integrate geospatial and technical data into pitch books, confidential information memorandums, virtual data rooms, and broader asset evaluation workflows under tight deadlines.
Who You Are
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Science (GIS) or a related discipline.
· Experience: 5+ years of relevant professional experience, including work with an oil and gas operator and/or an investment bank or A&D advisory firm.
· Technical Capability: Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, Petra, and Spotfire, with practical experience managing, quality-checking, and loading geospatial and subsurface data.
· Judgment and Execution: Critical thinker with strong attention to detail, prudent data-quality judgment, and the ability to deliver accurate work under tight deadlines.
· Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork, and accountability.
