Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President & CFO, the Vice President of Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis acts as a strategic thought partner to executive leadership. Managing a team of budget professionals, this executive translates institutional goals—financial sustainability, enrollment strategies, campus expansion, and revenue ventures—into robust financial models and capital allocation frameworks. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.

  • Driver-Based Modeling: Lead multi-year planning projecting revenues, expenses, capital needs, and cash flows across 3–10 year horizons.
  • Revenue Optimization: Oversee multi-scenario modeling for Net Tuition Revenue (NTR) strategies, gift/endowment deployment, and expense management.
  • Scenario & Viability Analytics: Conduct sensitivity analyses and stress testing against demographic/economic shifts; evaluate viability for new revenue ventures.

Capital Budgeting, Asset Strategy & Cash Flow:

  • Capital & Debt Strategy: Direct capital budgeting for physical plant, tech, and deferred maintenance; evaluate ROI, debt capacity, and leverage metrics.
  • Treasury & Liquidity: Build cash flow models to optimize operating liquidity and working capital across seasonal academic cash cycles with Finance.

Business Development & Operating Budgeting:

  • Strategic Revenue Ventures: Structure business opportunities including P3s, real estate monetization, auxiliary expansion, and online/non-degree offerings.
  • Operating Budget & Board Reporting: Direct annual operating budgets; prepare executive presentations and decision-support materials for the President, Provost, and Board of Trustees.

What You'll Bring

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics required (MBA/MS preferred). 10+ years progressive finance leadership, with 5+ years in senior leadership in higher education, healthcare, or large non-profits.
  • Domain Expertise: Proven track record in P3s, commercial deals, and higher ed accounting, tuition/enrollment mechanics, and endowment tracking.
  • Technical Mastery: Advanced financial modeling skills and software experience (Workday, Adaptive Planning, Pilbara, Excel, Tableau).
  • Executive Leadership: Demonstrated success managing budget teams and communicating complex strategies to trustees, officers, and faculty leaders.

Why Choose Berklee?
