About this job

About Endurance

Endurance is building the world's first modular subsea geothermal power plants, converting vast thermal resources under the ocean into gigawatts of baseload power. Backed by Founders Fund, Felicis, First Round Capital, and Point72 Ventures, our founding team includes veterans from SpaceX, Helion, Blue Origin, and Apple. We have completed multiple deep-ocean deployments to subsea volcanoes and are launching a long-term demonstration project this fall. By leveraging modular design, manufacturing scale, efficient drilling, and latent cooling on the seafloor, we are pioneering a new category of energy that outperforms traditional sources on environmental impact, deployment speed, and cost.

What you'll be doing

As our first in-house Communications hire, you will help own and tell our story externally and internally. You will be a partner and collaborate closely with our Head of Creative and company leadership. You will drive strategy and execute on PR relationships, craft key messaging, and build the broader infrastructure for our communications ecosystem.

You will be hands-on: writing press releases, pitching reporters, prepping company leadership for interviews and speaking events, and drafting external and internal messaging and material. You will also build the systems behind the work: key messages, talking points, a media list, a content calendar, public statement guidelines, crisis plans, and more, so that the team can communicate clearly without waiting on you.

This is a critical position with regards to how we explain a first-of-a-kind energy technology, accurately and with confidence, directly affects our ability to build trust, raise capital, earn community support, and hire great people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own Earned Media: Build relationships with energy, climate, technology, and business reporters, pitch stories, manage embargoes, and run every interview from briefing book to follow-up

  • Write and own press releases, announcements, fact sheets, and the key messages document every spokesperson works from

  • Prepare and media-train relevant members of the team sit in on interviews, and provide post-interview feedback to interviewees

  • Own our social channels (LinkedIn, X): strategy, content calendar, writing, posting, community management, and metrics

  • Get the technical story right. Work with engineering to make sure every public claim about our technology, our sites, and our results is accurate before it goes out

  • Build and run our crisis and incident communications plan, including environmental, safety, and deployment scenarios, with clear owners and approval paths

  • Write and enforce our PR and public statement guidelines: what employees can share, who approves what, and how we handle inbound and outbound media

  • Own internal communications: all-hands agendas and run of show, company-wide announcements, leadership updates, and onboarding content on mission and strategy

  • Support financing announcements, partner and customer announcements, and conference and event appearances

  • Support External Affairs on community relations, public comment periods, and stakeholder outreach

  • Partner with our Head of Creative on photo, video, and website content, and with our People team on employer brand and recruiting content

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of communications experience, with a mix of in-house and agency or newsroom work

  • Excellent writer and editor who can turn a complex technical result into a clear, accurate story in a rapid paced environment

  • Experience media-training, preparing, and partnering with executives for interviews, panels, and press events

  • Experience owning company social channels and building a content calendar

  • Experience handling a crisis or sensitive issue in public, with sound judgment about what to say, when, and who signs off

  • High ownership mindset and comfort working independently

  • Able to work on-site in Seattle, with occasional travel to deployments, events, and partner sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in energy, government affairs, climate tech, hardware, aerospace, or deep tech

  • Experience at a startup through a major financing round or launch

  • International communications experience, especially in APAC

Compensation, Benefits, & Perks

As a pre-revenue startup, Endurance Energy offers competitive base salaries and generous equity packages for full-time employees. Final base salary will be determined by an array of factors including internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and work experience.

A key aspect of our compensation philosophy is that value creation should be aligned with rewards. Right now this means equity is a significant portion of every full-time employee's compensation. As the company matures, there will be continued evolution and changes to the total rewards and total compensation package. What will always be true is that if we win, we win together. Equity is granted to every full-time employee as a meaningful piece of ownership. We believe the people building the company should share directly in the value they create.

In addition to a competitive base salary and equity, employees will receive all of our other great benefits and perks, including:

  • Benefits: Health, Dental, and Vision insurance coverage

  • Time Away: Flexible PTO including 12 paid company holidays

  • Global Fieldwork: Travel to fascinating deployment sites along oceanic ridges in locations like the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, Iceland, Japan, New Zealand, and the Azores

  • Hands-on Experience: Participate in sea trials and deployment operations in partnership with leading oceanographic institutions

  • Cutting-edge Development: Work with technology that spans high-power electronics, marine systems, and clean energy

  • Impactful Work: Help solve one of the world's most pressing challenges

  • Dive Certification: Company-sponsored recreational dive certification

  • Other Perks: Access to the company boat, free meals and snacks, and the list goes on!

If you’re selected for consideration, a recruiter will be able to discuss in greater detail.
