About this job
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE JOB
We’re seeking an experienced Copywriter to help share Anduril’s story as we continue our mission to transform U.S. and allied defense through advanced technology.
You will join a team of driven marketers and work alongside Anduril’s Design, Comms and Business Line teams to deliver clear, compelling copy across campaigns, product naming, social and more. The ideal candidate is a proven writer able to credibly translate the technical and urgent work of Anduril into copy that breaks through. They must bring a proven range of examples across industries with an emphasis on connecting company mission to product capabilities.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Define and document how we sound across social, web, print, and OOH.
- Turn dense engineering, brand moments and partnership activations into copy with a point of view, across headlines, body, manifestos, launch films, and campaign lines.
- Write social copy that cuts through and holds its own on quick turnaround timelines.
- Name new systems, platforms, and capabilities, and maintain the naming architecture in partnership with Product Marketing, Division Leads, Comms, and Design.
- Take a half-formed brief, a technical deep dive, and a room full of opinions, and come back with a strategic position and the words to express it.
- Drive scriptwriting in close partnership with the Anduril Design Dept. to inform treatments for video-driven campaigns.
- Work with Product Marketing, Design, Communications, Government Relations, and Recruiting so the voice stays consistent from a product page to a billboard to a job post.
- Create voice guidelines, messaging frameworks, and reusable copy systems that let other writers and non-writers produce work that sounds like us.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of copywriting experience at a top-tier agency, in-house at a recognized consumer brand, or a combination of both.
- An expansive portfolio showing work for major brands. Work in technical, hard tech, aerospace, or engineering categories is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to translate sophisticated technical subject matter into human copy that hits hard, without diluting the underlying truth, importance, or impact of the technology.
- Range across formats and surfaces: social, long-form, film, OOH, web, and product naming.
- Proven ability to take ambiguity and return strategic clarity, including framing the problem when nobody has framed it for you.
- Self-starter with the judgment to identify what needs writing and go write it, rather than working from a queue.
- Comfort working at speed alongside engineers, designers, and executives, and taking hard feedback on the work.
- Grit.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience writing for defense, aerospace, robotics, semiconductors, or another high-consequence technical category.
- Background that spans both consumer brand building and technical writing, for example agency brand work followed by a deep run in engineering or industrial subject matter.
- Experience building and enforcing a voice or messaging system across a fast-growing organization.
- Product naming experience, including naming architecture for a multi-product portfolio.
- Familiarity with trade compliance and the constraints of writing publicly about defense or sensitive government technology (ITAR/EAR, classification, OPSEC).
- Experience directing or partnering with in-house design and video teams on integrated campaigns.
