About this job

At Instructure, we believe in the power of people to grow and succeed throughout their lives. Our goal is to amplify that power by creating intuitive products that simplify learning and personal development, facilitate meaningful relationships, and inspire people to go further in their education and careers.
We do this by giving smart, creative, passionate people opportunities to create awesome. And that's where you come in:

The Corporate Accounting Manager will play a critical role in guiding our financial operations for our privately held SaaS company, overseeing complex month-end and quarter-end close processes, and taking ownership of specialized accounting functions. This role requires an independent, detail-oriented leader capable of managing a distributed global team’s deliverables, producing audit-ready financials, and driving process improvements across the department—including the active integration of AI agents to automate close tasks. The ideal candidate will possess advanced accounting acumen, a rigorous approach to maintaining SOX-compliant workpapers, and the proactive leadership skills necessary to act as a strategic partner to the business rather than just a reporting function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team & Cross-Functional Leadership: Manage the deliverables and mentor a distributed global team of staff accountants. Partner closely with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless global accounting operations. Act as a team player, supporting team members and driving cross-departmental collaboration.

  • Process Improvement, Scaling & AI Integration: Build and scale accounting processes by actively implementing and managing AI agents for various month-end close tasks. Champion the adoption of these tools to drive real business results and improve team performance and efficiency.

  • Month-End & Quarter-End Close: Input, direct, and review complex close procedures, owning critical components of the month-end close with a rigorous focus on accuracy. Serve as one of the primary owners of P&L expense accruals, payroll accounting, royalty accounting, fixed asset and lease accounting and various other technical accounting needs.

  • Advanced Reconciliations & Cash Management: Prepare and review month-end close reconciliations for +18 subsidiaries and +130 material accounts. Maintaining SOX-compliant internal controls and meticulous workpapers. Prepare comprehensive, highly accurate audit schedules for external auditors, ensuring all documentation is self-explanatory and substantiated.

  • Strategic Initiatives: Regularly lead cross-functional ad hoc projects tied to growth, systems implementations, and M&A integrations.

Skills You’ll Need

  • Energized by roles where collaborative teamwork is valued and accounting is recognized as a strategic partner to the business.

  • Advanced accounting acumen with a highly disciplined attention to detail and a proven track record of maintaining meticulous workpapers.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage both a global personnel team and complex financial processes independently.

  • Critical thinking and a solution-focused mentality to proactively implement operational efficiencies and resolve accounting discrepancies.

  • Strong project management abilities to oversee multiple workflows, process improvements, M&A integrations, and audit deliverables simultaneously.

Knowledge-Based Skills

  • Experience with NetSuite, FloQast, Coupa and/or Brex preferred.

  • Experience with, or a strong willingness to dive in and learn how to implement, AI agents to automate close procedures and uncover operational efficiencies.

  • Advanced Excel modeling skills, ensuring flawless data integrity and calculation accuracy

  • Deep understanding of GAAP accounting and a willingness to pursue continuous learning as policies change

  • Extensive experience in reconciling complex balance sheet accounts

Educational Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • CPA highly preferred
