About this job
About this role
Boulder Care is hiring its first Director of Brand to own how trust is built with the people and communities we serve. You will lead the brand, content and creative system that makes Boulder’s promise clear and credible, from our digital positioning and patient stories to campaigns, social, community partnerships and the materials that help people choose care.
This is a builder role. You will have the opportunity to create and mature a brand machine. You will turn a new messaging platform and visual refresh into a working system, lead a team and trusted external partners, and build a clear brand investment strategy with learning loops. You will report to the Chief Growth Officer and partner closely with Communications, Product, Clinical, and Commercial leadership.
About Boulder
Boulder Care is an award-winning digital clinic for addiction medicine, recognized for both innovation and high-quality patient care. Founded in 2017 by CEO Stephanie Strong, our mission is to improve the lives of people with substance use disorders through compassionate, evidence-based care.
We provide Boulder patients with a fully virtual, multidisciplinary care team, including medical providers and peer recovery specialists, who deliver personalized treatment, such as medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and ongoing support. Our approach is grounded in clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and a commitment to reducing barriers to recovery. Boulder partners with leading health plans, employers, and community organizations to ensure that our services are accessible and covered for the people who need them most.
Named by Fortune as one of the Best Workplaces in Healthcare, we foster a culture of kindness, respect, and meaningful work that delivers outstanding patient outcomes and moves the addiction medicine industry forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Own Boulder’s brand positioning, visual identity, voice and editorial point of view across the full journey.
- Lead the brand, creative and content team: set priorities, give clear direction, develop people and manage external designers, production partners and agencies.
- Build the trust-content engine to power a unique market position: patients, peers and clinicians; reviews/social proof; owned content; creator programs; and a compliant content-to-distribution plan.
- Run Boulder’s brand portfolio with a thesis, activation plan, budget discipline, measurement approach and renewal gate for every material investment.
- Translate a visual identity and messaging guide into an easy-to-use creative system: templates, channel guidance, campaign frameworks, art direction, and self-service guardrails.
- Own creative strategy and production: brand launches, community partnerships, sponsorships, executive platforms, web and priority activations.
- Use AI responsibly to increase speed and consistency while protecting clinical accuracy, human judgment and Boulder’s voice.
What you bring
- 10+ years in consumer brand, creative, content or integrated marketing leadership, including leadership of an internal team and external partners.
- Exceptional creative taste and judgment across identity, campaign, editorial, social-native video, web and high-stakes storytelling.
- Experience directing creative production and getting high-quality work from a constrained budget and small team.
- Strong operating muscle: clear briefs, prioritization, budget ownership, vendor management and outcome-based reporting.
- Experience with creator, community or customer-story programs and a strong instinct for editorial trust and consent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven AI fluency and sound judgment about where automation helps.
Nice to have
- Experience turning a human or emotionally complex category into trusted, differentiated creative work; healthcare, behavioral health, advocacy or another regulated category is a plus.
- Experience with Figma, Adobe CC, Canva, Frame.io, Air or a similar suite of tools is a plus.
Work environment
- This is a full-time, 100% remote position. Availability during standard business hours is expected, with flexibility to support business needs.
- Travel up to 15% is expected for team gatherings, production, partnership activations and key company events.
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
- Office requirements: Boulder teammates working with sensitive information must have a dedicated, private workspace with a lockable door and high-speed internet to maintain a secure, distraction-free environment, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
- Boulder Care employees are free to use our riverfront HQ located in Portland, OR, whenever they would like.
