About this job
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The duty of this organization is to enable our Customers' ongoing Mission Readiness. From the moment they say "go" until the contract is fulfilled. We are only successful when the customer's mission is successful.
Mission Readiness is the post-production shared services organization for Anduril. This team supports the Business Lines and Divisions throughout the lifecycle of their product, from initial sustainment concept through delivery, installation, operation, repair and return. These service offerings also include providing technical publications, training, customer support, connectivity services and other value-added services. To the degree the Business elects, we accept the delegated responsibility for upfront and continued delivery of the committed service solutions. This team endeavors to provide the Business Lines, as our internal customers, shared mission services that are more efficient and cost effective than if they chose to provide them directly. By offering mission support capabilities and capacity that are not "core" to the Business, the Business can focus resources on addressing the next big need while we ensure existing commitments are met.
As Anduril's installed base grows across an increasing number of products and Business Lines, our MRO organization needs to move from a collection of program-specific repair processes and tools to a hardened, scalable operating model. This role is about leading that shift.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a Director of MRO Transformation to lead the modernization and scaling of Anduril's repair operations. Where our Head of MRO oversees the collective repair function, this Director role owns the transformation agenda: establishing core processes for any Business Line to leverage, selecting and implementing the tools and systems MRO runs on, and driving the change management needed to get a fast-growing collection of programs onto common, scalable rails. You will assess where today's pockets of good activity exist, build the roadmap to modernize them, and lead cross-functional teams through the change without slowing down repair turnaround for products already in the field. This is a build-the-plane-while-flying role for someone who has led operational or digital transformation in a maintenance, repair or sustainment environment before and knows how to sequence change so it sticks.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Assess and learn current-state activity, tools, data and processes across Business Lines (field sustainment systems, spares tactics, ERP, accounting methods, maintenance task tracking) then build the plan to harmonize a scalable, common operating model.
- Project manage selection and/or design, implementation and adoption of MRO digital backbone systems including feeding the sustainment operating system. Partner with IT, Operational Excellence and Business Operations to ensure processes and digital workflows meld.
- Design and drive change management that bring Business Lines, Production, Supply Chain, and Technical Operations onto common MRO methods that can be reapplied to enable speed on new products and new locations.
- Partner with the Head of MRO, Director of Repair Engineering, and Business Line Production leadership to determine the path forward for various products based on their lifecycle stage and expectation, customers, technology and volumes.
- Own the transformation roadmap and business case, including scoring and prioritizing tooling and process investments (data capture, cost visibility, configuration accuracy) against cost, schedule and repair turnaround-time goals.
- Establish metrics and reporting that make MRO performance (repair turnaround time, backlog, cost, tool adoption) visible across the organization and track transformation progress against them.
- Build and lead a team focused on MRO process definition and improvement, tooling and change management, separate from the engineers and operators running repair day to day. Partner with Operational Excellence team to implement and manage performance.
- Manage change effectively across multiple teams and locations, ensuring disparate customer needs are understood and considered.
- Represent MRO transformation priorities in cross-functional planning with Program Management, Supply Chain, Production, and Engineering.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations, business, or related discipline
- 10+ years of combined experience in MRO, sustainment, operations, program management, or business/digital transformation roles, including experience standing up or modernizing MRO tools and processes
- 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional change management or transformation initiatives
- Ability to travel 25-50% of the time
- This position is based in Costa Mesa, CA or Columbus, OH and requires being onsite, remote work not considered
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience evaluating and implementing MRO or product lifecycle tooling and leading organizations through adoption
- Track record of consolidating fragmented, program-specific processes into a single scalable operating model in a fast-growing or matrixed organization
- Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), and product support analysis concepts, enough to translate engineering requirements into tooling and process decisions
- Experience building the business case for transformation investments and defending it to cross-functional and executive stakeholders
- Prior success leading change in a complex/matrix organization supporting multiple product families, with the ability to influence without direct authority over every team affected
- Background in defense, aerospace, or another highly regulated hardware environment where DoD or military sustainment standards shape how transformation has to be sequenced
- Experience with digital transformation of sustainment or logistics data (spares, configuration, maintenance history) to support fleet-wide visibility
- MBA or advanced technical degree preferred
