About this job
About Fluidstack
We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
How We Operate
Be a barrel. Full autonomy. Own things end to end, take on scope without being asked, no permission required to operate outside your core role.
Insane urgency. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
Reason from first principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
Build something that actually matters. If you're going to spend your time, spend it on something that matters to the world.
The Development Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Find enough land to deploy multiple gigawatts a week. By 2030 we need to bring on multiple gigawatts of new capacity every week, which means securing sites at a pace and scale no one in the industry has operated at. You'll own finding and locking that land ahead of the build.
Get power online in months, not years. Most of the clock runs before the lease is ever signed. You'll optimize the pre-signature work, site diligence, permitting, and development, so a site goes from signed lease to live power in under six months.
Acquire 10s to 100s of GWs behind the meter. Reaching that scale means generating on-site instead of waiting on grid interconnection. You'll secure the land and behind-the-meter solar generation to get there.
Role Scope
Manage the team and scale the program responsible for sourcing multiple GWs of US powered land, powered shell, and turnkey opportunities through a network of brokers, landowners, and developers you build.
Run diligence on every candidate site: utility and behind-the-meter power at 4200MW+ scale, with security, availability, and ramp validated directly with utilities; buildability from title, surveys, geotechnical, and environmental reports; and permitting requirements mapped against our construction schedule.
Negotiate leases, PSAs, and JV structures with landowners, developers, data center operators, and private equity firms, and test each deal's financeability and multi-year cost with Finance and executive leadership.
Direct vendor due diligence, including on-site audits with specialist engineers, and work with the DC Design team so every site meets our current technical requirements for scale and design.
Own capacity planning and forecasting across all clients and regions so capacity is ready for new and unforeseen projects, and build and mentor the site selection team as it scales.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've led hyperscale data center site acquisitions from first look to signature, and you personally negotiated the powered land and site development deals you closed.
You've closed large, multi-party real estate deals across leases, PSAs, and JVs while running a multi-site portfolio at the same time.
You've walked away from sites that looked good on paper because the title, geotechnical report, permitting path, or utility study said otherwise.
Brokers, landowners, and developers bring you sites before they reach the market, because you built those relationships and kept them.
You've built site selection processes and systems that held up as deal volume and team size grew quickly.
You bring executive leadership, finance, design, and construction to a site decision with a clear recommendation and the reasoning behind it.
You're on site when it matters, with travel of 20% or more.
Experience with behind-the-meter and bridge-to-utility power solutions,JV structuring and project finance, and large-load interconnection and utility tariff processes.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
