About this job

At Pfizer, breakthroughs change patients' lives. In Specialty Care that means people living with rare and serious conditions, from ATTR amyloidosis and hemophilia to atopic dermatitis and vitiligo. Our Integrated Insights & Strategy (IIS) team turns data into the decisions that help these medicines reach the patients who need them, powered by a proprietary, AI-enabled analytics stack few commercial teams can match. As the Team Lead for Customer Strategy, you will lead the team that turns our field, patient-solutions, and omnichannel insight into one connected customer strategy, and grow the people who do it.

Pfizer's Specialty Care Integrated Insights & Strategy (IIS) team is seeking a Director / Team Lead for Customer Strategy: a people leader who will build, lead, and develop the team responsible for how we support customer-facing Commercial across the Specialty Care portfolio. Consolidating what were separate above-brand customer-engagement and patient-solutions capabilities into one team, this leader connects the field, patient solutions, and omnichannel into a single customer strategy.

The Team Lead aligns to the US Commercial Customer Engagement (CEP) and Patient Solutions leaders, supporting them at the portfolio level while the brand-aligned pods handle therapeutic area-specific work. They lead three connected areas, patient solutions strategy, field and account strategy, and omnichannel and customer engagement, and they grow the team: unlocking its curiosity, fostering innovation, setting a high bar for quality, and mentoring the next generation of IIS strategists.

The ideal candidate is an outstanding people leader with deep customer-facing commercial fluency, from field and account dynamics to patient services and omnichannel engagement, and the EQ to build and inspire a cross-functional team. They bring proven thought leadership, strong entrepreneurial drive, and a well-formed point of view they are not afraid to assert, and they develop that same confidence in their team through consistent mentorship. They pair analytic command with the presence to partner credibly with senior Commercial leaders, and they measure success by the decisions they shape and the people they grow.

Why IIS: What You'll Gain

  • Lead at the frontier of AI in commercial analytics. Your team uses and helps shape IIS-built tools like ORBIT (our subnational performance platform) and AnalogueOS (our AI analogue-matching engine) to turn field, patient, and channel signals into action, and you set how AI fluency scales across the team.
  • A leadership platform, and a team to build. You will stand up and grow a newly consolidated Customer Strategy team, shape how it works in an AI-enabled model, and see your people advance along IIS's strategist career track.
  • A real seat at the table. You will partner directly with the US Commercial Customer Engagement and Patient Solutions leaders, and your team's work shapes the decisions they make.
  • A culture built on curiosity. We reward the sharper question, out-of-the-box thinking, and genuine intellectual partnership over order-taking, and we look to our leaders to protect it.

Role Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, lead, and develop the Customer Strategy team across field and account, patient solutions, and omnichannel, hiring for judgment and curiosity and growing each person's craft and career.
  • Mentor and coach the team to frame sharper questions, form and assert a point of view, and deliver exceptional strategic consultancy.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, intellectual curiosity, and high-quality work, setting the standard and removing barriers so the team can do its best thinking.
  • Shape how the team operates in an AI-enabled model, building the capability, fluency, and ways of working that scale.

Patient Solutions Strategy

  • Lead the team's patient-solutions strategy, building on our high-impact partnership with Patient Solutions to strengthen the patient journey, access, and services in concert with the field.
  • Turn hub, specialty-pharmacy, and patient-services data into insight that improves patient starts, adherence, and support, aligned to the US Commercial Patient Solutions lead.

Field & Account Strategy

  • Direct the team's field and account strategy: the field alert strategy, field-force sizing, structure and deployment analytics, and account-level intelligence supporting Key and National Account Directors.
  • In partnership with National Sales Directors and franchise leadership, translate portfolio priorities into measurable field actions and enable customer-facing colleagues.

Omnichannel & Customer Engagement Strategy

  • Direct omnichannel and customer-engagement strategy, connecting message, channel, and field execution into a coordinated customer experience.
  • Measure engagement effectiveness and inform resource-allocation and next-best-action decisions.

Portfolio Partnership & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the portfolio-level thought partner to the US Commercial Customer Engagement and Patient Solutions leaders, while the brand-aligned pods support therapeutic area-specific initiatives.
  • Lead integration across cross-functional teams (data science, analytics engineering, market research, and field and sales operations) and advance the use of novel data sources including real-world data.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Marketing, Psychology, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • 12+ years in commercial analytics, consulting, or commercial strategy, including experience leading and developing teams.
  • Deep customer-facing commercial fluency across field and sales effectiveness, patient services or hub and specialty-pharmacy dynamics, and omnichannel or customer engagement.
  • Proven people leader with the EQ to build, inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience partnering with sales, customer-engagement, and account leadership, and translating strategy into field and customer execution.
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple analytic disciplines and commercial data sources such as claims, specialty pharmacy, hub, CRM, and real-world data.
  • Proven ability to be an indispensable thought partner to senior Commercial leaders and to influence without authority.
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive; thrives on intellectual challenge and raises the bar on quality.
  • Sophisticated executive presence with excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or MBA in a relevant field.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences commercial analytics, including specialty channels, patient services, and field effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with field enablement and alerting tools (e.g., PinPoint) and with sales-force effectiveness methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Pfizer GCA capabilities (ORBIT, AnalogueOS, OAE) and hands-on experience with AI tools in commercial settings.

Organizational Relationships

  • US Commercial Customer Engagement (CEP) and Patient Solutions leaders.
  • The Customer Strategy team this role leads, and IIS brand-aligned pods and Commercial Analytics peers (Data Science, Market Research, Commercial Excellence).
  • Cross-functional partners: Chief Marketing Office, Field and Sales Operations, DBO, Medical, Finance, and Commercial Operations.

Resources Managed

Financial Accountability

  • Manage budget and spending, including primary market research and reporting and analytics contract resources.

People Leadership

  • Leads the Customer Strategy team (Patient Solutions Strategy, Field + Account Strategy, and Omnichannel + Customer Engagement Strategy), with full people-leadership accountability for hiring, development, performance, and career growth.
  • Manages contingent workers and identifies resourcing needs as appropriate.

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
