Position Summary

The Field Medical organization embodies our medical mission to be recognized as the trusted partner for internal stakeholders and the healthcare community — driving scientific exchange to enhance medical education, data generation, insight generation, and patients’ access to medicine.

The Executive National Director, US Field Medical Oncology – CELMoDs is an executive leadership role and a core member of the US Field Medical Oncology (USFMO) leadership team. Reporting directly to the Vice President, USFMO Commercialization, this leader has accountability as the national Field Medical lead for the CELMoDs (Cereblon E3 Ligase Modulator) portfolio, driving Field Medical excellence and an externally focused, patient-centered strategy across all assigned assets, tumor types, and lines of therapy — from early clinical development through post-approval commercialization and lifecycle management. This individual will directly manage a team of Regional Directors (RDs) and/or Regional Associate Directors (RADs) who lead field-based Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) in support of BMS CELMoDs medicines.

The Executive National Director sits at the intersection of field execution and enterprise medical strategy — setting clear and challenging goals for a high-performing, insight-generating organization, serving as the primary voice of CELMoDs field medical perspective into the broader US Medical Oncology strategy, and representing US Field Medical Oncology in partnership with Global Medical Oncology Home Office, US Commercialization, and Clinical Development. This leader is expected to champion the use of artificial intelligence and digital tools to elevate the quality, consistency, and impact of field execution, and to participate in the Field Medical Leaders Council to support and govern the FM function company-wide.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Accountability for the CELMoDs Field Medical Plan

  • Own end-to-end accountability for the development and execution of the national Field Medical plan for the CELMoDs portfolio, ensuring alignment with the US Medical Oncology Strategy Plan and commercial priorities across all phases of clinical development and commercialization
  • Set clear, challenging, and measurable goals (consistent with ASMART principles) for the field organization; hold direct reports accountable to performance milestones with transparency and urgency
  • Measure, assess, and communicate the effectiveness of CELMoDs Field Medical activities to the broader organization; identify gaps and drive timely course corrections in collaboration with USFMO leadership
  • Ensure flawless execution of scientific exchange, omnichannel HCP engagement, and field medical programs across the CELMoDs portfolio, including pre- and post-approval activities
  • Develop and manage the CELMoDs oncology Field Medical budget in collaboration with the VP of USFMO.
  • Ensure all team activities, CRM responsibilities, and business processes (including audits) are completed with rigor and in full compliance with relevant BMS policies, GCP, FDA regulations, and legal and ethical standards
  • Oversee and ensure Pharmacovigilance procedural documents are understood and applied by the field team and investigators of local studies

2. Executive Leadership and Team Development

  • Directly manage the Regional Directors and/or Regional Associate Directors who lead the field MSL organization supporting CELMoDs
  • Serve as an active, hands-on coach to direct reports — driving meaningful differentiation in performance through regular field rides, structured feedback, and individualized development plans
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing, diverse, and results-oriented field medical organization that operates with accountability, scientific credibility, and a patient-first mindset
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, constructive challenge, and innovation aligned with BMS values of passion, urgency, accountability, inclusion, and integrity
  • Partner with the WW Learning Organization to identify training needs and ensure MSLs are equipped to communicate the science of CELMoDs pipeline with scientific accuracy and confidence
  • Champion succession planning and talent development as a strategic priority within the field medical organization
  • Ensure all direct reports and their teams understand and operate within all applicable compliance guidelines, FDA regulations, and BMS ethical and legal standards

3. CELMoDs Field Medical Input into Medical Strategy

  • Serve as the voice of CELMoDs field medical into the US Oncology Medical Strategy, translating field-level insights from HCP interactions into actionable intelligence for medical and commercial stakeholders
  • Engage top Thought Leaders and Key Opinion Leaders across assigned heme malignancies to assess the medical landscape, understand unmet needs, and inform strategy development; validate Thought Leader lists and appropriate HCP segmentation
  • Ensure MSLs collect high-quality, synthesized, and strategic medical insights and feed them back to the home office in a timely and structured manner
  • Collaborate across the CELMoDs matrix, US Oncology Commercialization organization, and Global Medical Oncology Leads / Disease Area Heads to drive excellence and support execution of medical strategies
  • Ensure cross-functional institution/account planning approaches are adopted across the field team, integrating perspectives from Commercial, HEOR, Market Access, Clinical Development, and Patient Advocacy
  • Provide medical/scientific updates and support to internal stakeholders (e.g., Commercial, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Legal, Compliance, HEOR, Market Access) as appropriate

4. AI-Enabled Field Execution

  • Champion the adoption and effective use of AI and digital tools across the field medical team to enhance the quality and efficiency of HCP engagement, insight generation, and field execution
  • Leverage AI-powered analytics and CRM platforms to optimize Thought Leader identification, segmentation, and outreach — enabling a data-driven, omnichannel engagement model aligned with HCP preferences
  • Drive the use of generative AI tools for literature synthesis, scientific content preparation, and medical information response workflows, ensuring compliance with BMS AI governance policies
  • Foster a culture of digital fluency and AI literacy across the team, ensuring MSLs are trained and confident in leveraging emerging tools to personalize and elevate their scientific interactions
  • Partner with home office functions to identify and scale AI-enabled capabilities that generate measurable improvements in field medical productivity and impact

5. Clinical Trial and Research Support Across the CELMoDs Lifecycle
