About this job
About Us:
The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Our specialized care teams provide personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.
The Department of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated academic cardiologist for a faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Attending level within the Cardiology Service. This role is focused on the cardiovascular care of patients with cancer, including the prevention, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular disease throughout the cancer continuum. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary cardio-oncology program dedicated to optimizing cardiovascular health before, during, and after cancer treatment.
The Cardiology Service provides specialized expertise in cardio-oncology and consultative cardiovascular medicine, with an emphasis on the evaluation and management of cardiovascular complications related to cancer therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and radiation. The Service also provides comprehensive care for patients with pre-existing cardiovascular disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, thromboembolic disorders, and other cardiovascular conditions that impact cancer care. Faculty participate in inpatient consultation services, ambulatory clinics, advanced cardiac imaging, and multidisciplinary treatment planning across Memorial Sloan Kettering's main campus and Regional Care Network.
The Cardiology Service is comprised of 13 cardiologists, 11 advanced practice providers, specialized nursing and technical staff, and an established Cardio-Oncology Fellowship that attracts trainees from across the United States and internationally. The Service is supported by state-of-the-art echocardiography, stress testing, electrocardiography, rhythm monitoring, and cardiac device management programs, while maintaining strong collaborative relationships with leading cardiovascular institutions throughout the New York metropolitan area.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of MSK's nationally recognized cardio-oncology program through innovative clinical care, education, and research. The position offers robust opportunities to develop collaborative clinical and translational research initiatives across the Department of Medicine and with partners in Medical Oncology, Hematologic Malignancies, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, Radiology, Pathology, and supportive care services. We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated commitment to academic scholarship and those seeking to expand clinical research and investigator-initiated studies focused on cardiovascular complications of cancer and cancer-directed therapies. Candidates must possess an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree, have excellent clinical, communication, and team skills, be board certified or board eligible in Cardiovascular Disease, and demonstrate Level II competency in echocardiography, including transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), and stress echocardiography.
The largest of MSK's clinical departments, the Department of Medicine encompasses experts in solid tumor oncology, hematologic malignancies, subspecialty medicine, and supportive and acute care services. Offering care across multiple locations in New York City and throughout Memorial Sloan Kettering's Regional Care Network (RCN), Department of Medicine physicians provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for the whole patient. The RCN extends from Southern New Jersey to Eastern Long Island, bringing the same world-class expertise, coordinated care, and access to innovative clinical trials available at MSK's main campus to patients throughout the region.
