About this job

About Lawhive

Lawhive is a global, AI-native law firm. Operating in the US and UK, we’ve built our own agentic operating system for legal services.

We partner with leading Main Street law firms to give lawyers and back-office teams the AI platform, marketing, and operational support to grow faster than they could alone. Our specialized AI agent for legal work, Lawrence, works alongside lawyers, putting human legal judgment right where it belongs: at the center of every matter.

We're backed by a $60M Series B at a $685M valuation, from investors including Google Ventures, TQ Ventures, Mitch Rales, Balderton Capital and Premier League footballers Harry Maguire and Reece James. In the last few years we've hit milestone after milestone, raising over $110M in funding. Today, we're on track to exceed $100 million in annual revenue, and we have offices in London, New York, Austin, and Phoenix.

So if you want your work to have real, tangible impact as we redefine an entire industry, Lawhive is where you can make it happen.

Finance at Lawhive

We're a lean finance team working across Lawhive's UK and US group, partnering with every part of the business from product and engineering to legal operations and the exec team. Over the next 12 to 18 months we're focused on:

  • Building the systems, controls and reporting for a multi-entity group on the path to audit

  • Creating real-time, decision-grade data on cash flow, margins and unit economics

  • Bringing acquired entities into one unified finance function

  • Automating workflows across payables, payroll, tax, FP&A and revenue accounting

If you want a finance role where the problems are real and the impact is visible across the whole company, this is it.

Role Overview

We're looking for an experienced FP&A Lead to build and own financial planning across Lawhive's fast-scaling, multi-entity UK and US group. As our first dedicated FP&A hire, you'll establish the foundations of the function, owning forecasting, budgeting and financial modelling end to end.

This is a role for someone who has built FP&A foundations before, ideally in a startup or scale-up. You'll bring experience standardising financial planning across multiple entities, creating structure from ambiguity and providing senior stakeholders with clear, commercially relevant insights.

Working closely with finance leadership and teams across product, engineering, operations and commercial functions, you'll combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, building scalable processes and using automation and AI to improve how we plan and make decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Forecasting and Modelling

  • Lead group-level forecasting across revenue, headcount, costs and cash flow.

  • Build and own financial models that support strategic planning and investment decisions.

  • Analyse performance, identifying key drivers, risks and opportunities.

  • Lead scenario modelling, long-range planning and sensitivity analysis.

Business Partnering

  • Partner with senior leaders to understand performance, risks and future requirements.

  • Translate financial insights into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Provide commercial and financial guidance on new initiatives and operational decisions.

  • Influence decision-making through strong relationships and high-quality financial analysis.

Reporting and Insight

  • Own group-level management reporting, delivering clear analysis and performance insights.

  • Establish consistent reporting across entities, tracking revenue, margins, unit economics and operational KPIs.

  • Improve reporting processes, dashboards and financial data visibility.

  • Ensure accuracy, consistency and audit-ready documentation across financial outputs.

Building the Function

  • Establish scalable FP&A processes, tools and reporting frameworks from the ground up.

  • Lead budgeting and standardise planning processes across teams and entities.

  • Partner with Management Accounting on month-end performance, variance analysis and financial insights.

  • Strengthen financial governance and planning discipline across the group.

About You

  • Significant FP&A, commercial finance or strategic finance experience, with proven ownership of financial planning, ideally with exposure to building financial planning processes, models and reporting frameworks from the ground up.

  • Experience building or transforming FP&A processes, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment.

  • Strong multi-entity experience, including standardising planning and reporting at group level.

  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, with excellent financial modelling capabilities.

  • Confident analysing complex datasets and translating insights into clear recommendations.

  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing strategic decisions.

  • Strong understanding of revenue models, costs, margins and operational metrics.

  • Experience improving financial processes through automation, ideally using AI.

  • Highly analytical, commercially minded and intellectually curious.

  • A hands-on self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, builds structure and drives continuous improvement.
