About this job
About the Team
OpenAI’s Consumer Verticals team builds experiences that make ChatGPT more useful in the areas that matter to people every day: health, personal finance, education and learning, and travel.
We bring together advanced AI capabilities, personal context, and thoughtful product design to help people understand complex information, explore options, and make progress toward their goals. Our work spans four areas:
Consumer Health: Helping people understand health information, prepare for appointments, and navigate their health with more context and confidence.
Personal Finances: Helping people connect their financial accounts, understand their financial picture, and explore questions grounded in their own financial context.
Education and Learning: Helping people understand concepts, practice skills, and build knowledge over time through engaging, interactive learning experiences.
Travel: Exploring new ways for AI to help people discover destinations, evaluate options, and plan trips around their preferences and needs.
We work closely with product, design, research, safety, privacy, and other ChatGPT teams to turn emerging AI capabilities into useful consumer experiences, with a high bar for quality, reliability, and user trust.
About the Role
We’re looking for product-minded software engineers to build the next generation of consumer experiences in ChatGPT across these verticals.
You will own products and features end-to-end, from early exploration and prototypes through polished experiences used by millions of people. We welcome engineers with depth in mobile, frontend, or full-stack development who combine strong technical skills with product judgment and a high bar for craft.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy shaping new product areas, making complex information intuitive, and moving quickly from idea to launch. Prior experience in AI or any of these domains is not required.
In this role, you will:
Build consumer experiences across ChatGPT’s mobile, web, and full-stack surfaces.
Own features from early prototypes through launch and iteration.
Partner with product, design, and research to turn AI capabilities into intuitive, personalized products.
Build reliable interfaces, services, and integrations with privacy, safety, and user trust at their core.
Improve quality, performance, and usability through experimentation and user feedback.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have 10+ years of software engineering experience, with depth in full-stack development.
Have shipped consumer products at scale
Bring strong product judgment and a high bar for craft.
Enjoy shaping product direction and owning ambiguous problems from idea to production.
Move quickly while making thoughtful tradeoffs around quality, reliability, and user trust.
Are excited to apply AI to personal finances, consumer health, learning and education, or travel.
Bonus if you have:
Experience with AI-powered applications, conversational interfaces, or multimodal products.
Experience building personalized experiences, data visualizations, or integrations with external services.
Experience with privacy-sensitive products, secure data flows, permissions, or user consent.
Experience in personal finance, consumer health, education, travel, or a related consumer product area.
