About this job
Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future
Hadrian is building autonomous factories to reindustrialize America. By combining AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we help aerospace and defense companies build rockets, satellites, aircraft, ships, and other mission-critical systems up to 10x faster and at significantly lower cost.
Following our $1.37B Series D at a $7.87B valuation, Hadrian is rapidly expanding our manufacturing footprint, launching new capabilities across welding, casting, forging, electronics, additive manufacturing, and more, while scaling our Factory-as-a-Service platform to transform how critical products are built.
Backed by leading investors including JPMorgan Chase, Valor Equity Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, 137 Ventures, Lux Capital, T. Rowe Price, and Morgan Stanley, we’re building the future of American manufacturing—and looking for exceptional people to help make it happen.
If you’re ready to take on the most challenging and rewarding work of your career while helping create American manufacturing jobs for generations to come, you’re exactly who we’re looking for.
The Role
Hadrian is building and expanding factories and offices across the country. We're looking for a Technical Field Engineer to be the hands-on lead who gets a new site ready for people to work. You'll stage and install infrastructure hardware, kit out offices with workstations and conference rooms, configure AV systems and Windows and Linux devices, and manage low-voltage and electrical vendors on site, spotting mistakes and directing corrections before we accept the work.
You'll work as a pair with our IT Infrastructure Project Manager, Site Buildouts. The PM owns requirements, design, budget, vendor contracts, and the overall schedule. You own execution on the ground: getting hardware installed, managing the trades day to day on an active construction site, and proving that what was designed actually works. You're the PM's eyes and hands on site, and what you learn in the field shapes the standards for the next build.
You'll also work closely with our infrastructure and network engineers. They configure the network and server equipment; you rack, power, cable, and patch it, give them hands on site during turn-up, and know enough networking to help find and fix problems fast. You'll also work alongside Factory Development as machinery goes in, and with the central IT and helpdesk teams who will run the site after handoff.
We expect you to automate what you can. You'll write scripts to make device setup repeatable, and use AI tools every day to work faster and smarter.
This is a full-time, hands-on, travel-heavy role based at our Torrance, CA HQ or our Mesa, AZ factory. It reports to David Chen, Director of IT.
What You'll Do
Deployment Planning & Staging
Turn an approved design and bill of materials into a hands-on deployment plan: install sequence, staging, and cutover steps
Receive, inventory, and stage hardware; image and prepare workstations and devices before they go to site
Manage shipping and receiving of IT materials across sites and keep asset inventory accurate
Installation & Office Kit-Out
Rack, mount, and power network and server equipment in MDFs and IDFs, including UPSs and PDUs, and support infrastructure and network engineers on site as they configure and bring it online
Patch and connect network, server, endpoint, and AV hardware over copper and fiber, following port maps and labeling standards
Kit out offices: install workstations, monitors, docks, printers, and peripherals so people can sit down and work on Day 1
Configure and deploy Windows and Linux devices, including workstations, shop-floor PCs, and kiosks, using Hadrian's MDM and provisioning tools
Install, configure, and test conference room and AV systems (Teams Rooms, Logitech, Crestron, Q-SYS, or similar)
Work with integrators and Security to install and connect cameras, access control, and other security devices
Line up daily deployment work with Factory Development as machinery is installed
On-Site Vendor Management & Inspection
Manage low-voltage and electrical vendors on site day to day: watch work as it happens, spot mistakes early, and direct corrections in the field within the scope the PM has set
Inspect the final work of cable technicians and electricians before acceptance: terminations, labeling, cable dressing, fiber and copper test results, rack grounding, UPS and rack power, and outlets at workstations and equipment
Log deficiencies on a punch list and verify fixes before sign-off
Serve as the on-site IT point of contact between PM site visits, coordinating daily with trades and integrators on access, sequencing, and handoffs
Flag anything that changes scope, cost, or schedule to the PM in real time, with photos and notes
Validation & Go-Live
Validate connectivity, wireless coverage, AV, and endpoints with the network and infrastructure engineers
Troubleshoot drops, patching, PoE, and basic connectivity issues, and escalate configuration issues to the right engineer
Enforce Hadrian's security tooling on deployed devices (EDR, MDM, and IAM), and support CMMC Level 2 and CUI handling at applicable sites
Provide hands-on support at go-live and through the first weeks of operation, then hand off cleanly to local and central IT
Automation & AI
Write and maintain PowerShell, Bash, and Python scripts to automate device provisioning, configuration, and post-install validation checks, and keep them version-controlled in Git
Use AI tools in your daily work to write and debug scripts, troubleshoot issues, and draft runbooks and documentation faster
Field Documentation
Capture field data as you build (photos, red-lines, rack elevations, port maps, and device records) so the PM can finalize the as-built record in Confluence
Write and maintain deployment runbooks and playbooks, and feed field lessons back into the PM's standards and templates
What We're Looking For
6+ years of hands-on IT deployment, field engineering, or desktop and AV support experience
Hands-on experience racking, mounting, powering, and patching equipment in MDFs, IDFs, or data centers
Strong knowledge of Ethernet (Cat6/Cat6A) and fiber (single-mode and multimode) cabling, connectors, patching, and testing
Working knowledge of power for IT: UPSs, PDUs, circuits, and outlet and receptacle types
Understanding of how low-voltage and electrical trades do their work, enough to spot mistakes, direct corrections, and inspect and accept their work
Comfortable navigating an active construction site safely, with experience managing vendors on site
Able to read blueprints and construction and low-voltage drawings, install to plan, and red-line changes
Solid networking knowledge (VLANs, DHCP, DNS, PoE, and Wi-Fi) and the ability to troubleshoot connectivity and work closely with network engineers
Experience configuring and imaging Windows and Linux devices, and managing endpoints with Intune, Mosyle, or FleetDM, plus familiarity with Okta and EDR tooling
Solid scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, and Python. You've automated real deployment or provisioning work, not just run other people's scripts
Comfortable with Git for version control and Visual Studio or VS Code for writing and debugging code
Use AI tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot) as part of your daily workflow, with good judgment about checking outputs and following data-handling rules
Experience setting up and configuring conference room and AV systems
Experience kitting out offices: workstations, peripherals, printers, and meeting rooms
Strong field documentation habits: photos, red-lines, rack elevations, and runbooks
High degree of independence and ownership. You raise issues early and drive them to resolution without waiting to be asked
Comfortable operating as a mobile extension of a distributed team
Manufacturing or industrial environment experience strongly preferred
What Will Set You Apart
Experience standing up greenfield sites or new offices
Experience deploying IT for manufacturing or production lines (OT, shop-floor devices) alongside machinery installs
Hands-on experience with access control, video surveillance (VMS), and building sensor platforms such as Verkada or Genetec
Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+, AVIXA CTS, Crestron or Q-SYS, BICSI Installer or Technician, or FOA CFOT
Prior work as a low-voltage technician, cable installer, or electrician
Experience building AI-assisted workflows or agents to automate IT tasks
Aerial lift or forklift certification, or OSHA 10/30
CMMC, ITAR, and CUI handling experience
Physical & Operational Requirements
Based at our Torrance, CA HQ or Mesa, AZ factory, with extensive travel to sites, roughly 50%+ depending on project phase
Ability to lift and move networking and IT equipment (~50 lbs), climb ladders, and work from lifts
Comfortable working in data centers, equipment rooms, active construction zones, and manufacturing floors, wearing required PPE and following site safety rules
Occasional after-hours and weekend work during go-lives and cutovers
