About this job

About the role

Muon seeks an IT Manager to join our Information Technology team. The ideal candidate is a proactive IT leader with a strong background in enterprise software evaluation, SaaS lifecycle management, and vendor integration. In this role, you will lead IT operations and our tooling landscape—driving trade studies, software selection, and day-to-day administration—so our teams have the secure, high-impact tools they need to execute efficiently. Information Systems owns the software, data platforms, and automated tools that help our teams move faster, our factories build efficiently, and our launch teams operate flawlessly.

This position is hybrid and requires working on-site in our San Jose, CA office three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Trade Studies & SaaS Selection: Lead technical trade studies and software evaluations with stakeholders to select SaaS solutions that fit architecturally, securely, and cost-effectively.
  • Procurement Support: Partner with Legal, InfoSec, and Procurement on technical due diligence, vendor onboarding, and SLA reviews.
  • Tool Setup & Deployment: Work with IT and business owners on tenant configuration and integration of newly acquired software.
  • License Lifecycle & Cost: Manage licenses, forecast renewal budgets, allocate costs by team, and track seat utilization and license harvesting to eliminate waste.
  • Vendor Operations: Serve as primary technical contact for SaaS vendors, managing escalations and renewals.
  • Governance & Audit: Audit for shadow IT and redundant tools, and maintain security compliance.
  • Intake Process Optimization: Streamline the IT intake framework to shorten evaluation and deployment lead times.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and prioritize work for the IT team.

Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in IT/IS roles spanning enterprise tool evaluation, SaaS management, or IT operations, including leading or mentoring a team.
  • Proven track record leading trade studies, vendor evaluations, and TCO/ROI analysis.
  • Experience partnering with InfoSec, Legal, and Procurement on due diligence, security reviews (SOC 2, ISO), and contracts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges each week

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Recent experience in hardware, and/or modern aerospace engineering environments.
  • Proven success in a high-growth startup environment

Salary

The salary range for this role is $190,000 - $210,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
