About this job

ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer Commercial Oncology is introducing the world to the next era of cancer care. With a growing portfolio of novel therapies, industry-leading R&D, and a goal of delivering eight breakthroughs by 2030 across major cancer types, we're translating cutting-edge science into market-shaping impact. Here, you'll partner with exceptional colleagues across scientific, medical, and manufacturing teams, backed by advanced digital and AI-enabled infrastructure and the authority to accelerate medicines from discovery to delivery. Guided by our values of courage, excellence, equity, and joy, you'll have the opportunity to stretch your skills and build a career that evolves with you—across teams, roles, and the Pfizer enterprise. Join us to make history — for patients, for their families, for the future.

The Senior Director, Oncology Transformation Lead, serves as the central owner of Commercial Oncology's shift to a signal-based engagement model — the delivery mechanism for Oncology’s strategic imperatives of Precision Customer Engagement and Patient Journey Support. The role sets the target operating model, standards, roadmap, and shared KPIs across Field, Marketing, and Access functions, while day-to-day delivery, resourcing, and timing remain owned within each function. This Senior Director has two direct reports: one Director, Marketing and one Senior Manager, Ops, and has two dotted line reports (Transformation Directors in OPSA and CPM) and reports to the US Bladder Cancer Franchise and Oncology Portfolio Marketing Lead.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Transformation Strategy & Model Ownership

  • Drive Commercial Oncology's transformation to a signal-based engagement model, serving as the accountable owner of the target operating model, standards, and roadmap across Field, Marketing, and Access, and Medical.
  • Define and maintain the shared KPI set and common target model that all three functions build against to ensure a shared, consistent, BU-wide set of metrics for ongoing performance and executional measurement.
  • Be accountable for developing aligned framework for decision making on cross-functional trade-offs and determining when escalation to senior leadership is needed.
  • Establish and lead the governance structure and meeting cadence (e.g., steering committee, working team/POD reviews) needed to track transformation progress against the agreed roadmap.

Change Management & Functional Liaison

  • Act as liaison with Brand/Franchise leads to implement go-to-market change management for Marketing's transition to the signal-based engagement model.
  • Act as liaison with the heads of CEP (Field) and OPSA/PPS (Access) to implement go-to-market change management for each function's transition to the signal-based engagement model.
  • Serve as a key collaborator with the CMO organization to ensure alignment with the AIA and GCA teams, so any Oncology pilot work stays connected to overall commercial model evolution.
  • Serve as a key collaborator with USMAPPS, particularly the Pfizer Patient Services (PPS) team
  • Support functional Transformation Directors in translating the target model into function-specific execution plans, while preserving each function's ownership of delivery, resourcing, and timing.
  • Anticipate and surface change-management risk — adoption, capability gaps, field readiness — early enough for leadership to act.

Senior Leadership & Governance Reporting

  • Prepare and brief senior leadership ahead of relevant governance forums to endorse trade-offs and investments, and provide continuous updates on aligned-upon metrics and transformation progress

Team Leadership

  • Lead direct and dotted line reports, providing direction, prioritization, and unified standards across a matrixed team.
  • Build a cohesive team identity and shared accountability, ensuring the transformation agenda holds priority
  • Partner with the Transformation Operations Senior Manager and Finance partners to ensure project deliverables, milestones, tracking, and budget are met.
  • Lead development of the KPI plan and measurement approach, in partnership with GCA, used for senior leadership updates and partner with CEP and OPSA enablement to deliver actionable reporting and insights for field-based colleagues

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years with Bachelors of relevant professional experience, including commercial experience and significant exposure to complex, global organizations — with marketing, commercial strategy, and change-management experience, plus strong program/portfolio management (PMO) capability; 10+ years with MBA/Masters
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale commercial or go-to-market transformation initiatives; experience with data- or signal-driven engagement models preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare environment, and commercial business model; Oncology experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional work as a senior individual contributor and people leader — including influencing and directing team members for whom this role is not the primary (solid-line) reporting relationship.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior executives and cross-functional leadership (Marketing, Field/Commercial Excellence, Access/Patient Services, CMO) to translate strategy into coordinated execution.
  • Strong understanding of go-to-market strategy, field engagement models, and data-driven patient/HCP engagement approaches (e.g., signal- or trigger-based engagement).
  • Ability to define and govern KPI and measurement frameworks used for senior leadership reporting.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to assess trade-offs, resourcing, and investment choices across functions.
  • Ability to synthesize diverse perspectives and complex information into clear issues, options, implications, recommendations, and executive-ready materials.
