This role suits someone who can balance the demands of a recurring close with multi-quarter, cross-functional project work led by others.
Close and Review
- Lead the revenue close process and serve as second reviewer on revenue reconciliations and disclosures
- Identify items that need technical accounting input and escalate them to the technical accounting team with the right context and support
- Maintain a materiality and escalation framework that defines which items stop at first review, which require second review, and which require final review
Process and Systems Transformation
- Work with finance, IT, Billing, Sales Ops, and Data leaders on multi-quarter revenue transformation programs, such as billing-to-revenue integration, revenue subledger enhancements, contract management, and close automation
- Represent revenue accounting and the close in design discussions, providing input on requirements, process flows, and impacts on review and controls
- Help drive adoption and change management across the US and India teams, including training reviewers to work with AI-assisted outputs
- Help translate business and accounting needs into system requirements, and challenge designs that would add risk or manual effort to the close
- Support testing, UAT, and cutover readiness, and confirm post-implementation processes and controls work as intended
India Team Collaboration
- Partner with the India managers (first reviewer) to set review standards, checklists, and escalation thresholds
- Provide clear handoffs, feedback, and coaching to keep review quality consistent across time zones
- Analyze second-review findings and trends with the India manager, and drive root-cause fixes
FP&A Coordination
- Coordinate with FP&A on revenue forecasting and budget-to-actual variance explanations
- Provide revenue and deferred revenue data, bookings-to-revenue bridges, and insight into drivers such as renewals, upsells, churn, FX, and pricing changes
- Align on close calendars and flash results, and flag risks and one-time items early
Controls and Audit
- Own execution and documentation of revenue-related close controls, including the multi-tier review controls
- Make sure process and system changes, including AI-assisted steps, are documented for audit
- Support external audit requests, walkthroughs, and quarterly review procedures, bringing in technical accounting for positions
- Track and remediate control gaps and review findings
Leadership
- Mentor and develop revenue accountants and analysts
- Communicate close status, risks, and project input clearly to the Senior Director and cross-functional leaders
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
- 8+ years of progressive revenue accounting or revenue operations experience with significant hands-on close and review responsibility, ideally in SaaS or technology
- Experience contributing to multi-quarter system implementations and process transformation projects led by others (for example, revenue automation, ERP or billing integrations), from requirements through UAT and go-live
- Working knowledge of AI and automation as applied to finance and accounting, including strengths, limitations, and risks such as accuracy, bias, data privacy, and the need for human review
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and work across finance, IT, and business teams without direct authority
- Ability to manage competing priorities between recurring close deliverables and long-running project milestones
- Working knowledge of revenue recognition concepts (ASC 606) sufficient to review work and spot items needing technical escalation
- Experience coordinating with FP&A on forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting
- Experience working with offshore or distributed teams, including multi-tier review structures
- Familiarity with SOX controls and working with auditors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort presenting to senior finance leadership
Preferred
- Hands-on experience using AI tools (for example, LLM assistants) to improve finance workflows, such as reconciliations, flux commentary, or contract review
- Experience at a public, high-growth SaaS company
- Familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, Chargebee or similar billing platforms, and revenue automation tools
- Strong Excel/SQL and data analysis skills
- Prior people management experience
Working arrangement
