About this job

Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.

At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

As the Senior/Principal Product Manager for Engine Networking, you will drive the vision and strategy for the game engine networking stack/server aspect of our client-server architecture and be hands-on with the execution and delivery of products that impact over 130 million players every day.

This team is responsible for the fundamental competitive game networking stack, from replication and streaming to asset delivery and caching, and our cloud game servers.  This includes close partnerships with our broader Infrastructure and Matchmaking teams to ensure our systems are getting the most out of our infrastructure and our players the best experience possible.

If you are a visionary product leader who thrives on deeply technical challenges and loves networks, you’ll be a great fit!

The role is based in San Mateo, CA (hybrid with Tues-Thurs onsite).

You will:

  • Define the long-term vision and strategy for Engine Networking, ensuring we have plans in place to continually invest in the core pieces of a high-performance, realtime connected game engine.
  • Drive execution of new architectural systems, such as our upcoming offline play feature.
  • Work with the Infrastructure organization to optimize the technical KPIs around networked gameplay, such as latency, from participating in matchmaking experiments to helping with future data center buildout work.
  • Champion data rigor, working with Data Science to identify opportunities and measure the efficacy of our work.
  • Think outside the box, working closely with engineering, to consider how the latest advances in AI, architecture, and more combine to deliver step-function improvements
  • Go hands-on to bring the roadmap to life partnering with engineering leadership to ensure all features are built and deployed successfully.
  • Mentor and elevate the product culture within the team, fostering an environment of rigorous thinking, experimentation, and relentless customer empathy.

You have:

  • 6+ years of product management experience, with a significant portion spent in technically deep products.
  • Technical Fluency: A strong technical background (CS degree or equivalent experience) with the ability to discuss networking stacks and similar with engineering partners.
  • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to define a multi-year product vision and rally large, cross-functional teams (Engineering, Data Science) behind it.
  • Entrepreneurial drive: You have a "Founder" mindset. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity, making high-stakes decisions with limited information, and driving projects from vague concepts to global launch.
  • Highly Analytical: Proficiency in defining and tracking complex metrics. You use data to find the "signal in the noise.”
  • Executive Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You can explain complex technical topics to non-technical executives and define detailed technical specs for engineers with equal fluency.
  • Experience with competitive game engines/low-latency networking systems and/or UGC platforms is a strong plus.
