About this job
The Role
You'll build, optimize, and harden the pipelines and APIs that power our transition to an agent-ready release platform. In this hands-on, execution-heavy software engineering role, you will be building the release pipelines to allow both humans and AI agents to safely and consistently deploy infrastructure and application code.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in our Oakland, CA office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home on Tu/Fr.
What you'll do
- Build agent-ready release infrastructure: Design and implement APIs, services and infrastructure that replace manual release processes. You’ll also ensure pipeline logs are in structured, traceable formats that humans and AI agents can interpret.
- Own release infrastructure: Define and scale the infrastructure powering our builds, pre-production validation, and production deployments.
- Automate compliance and safety guardrails: Integrate automated policy checks and audit evidence generation directly into pipelines, replacing manual human gates with tested, code-based controls.
- Lead technical projects and mentor peers: Drive complex release engineering projects end-to-end and provide technical mentorship to other engineers on modern CI/CD and IaC practices.
- Optimize build performance and signal quality: Improve build cache hit rates, parallelism, and resource utilization for our monorepo, while systematically eliminating flaky tests in our CI/CD pipelines.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of software engineering experience including significant time building CI/CD or developer infrastructure in cloud-based systems .
- Deep experience with build systems and CI/CD: Hands-on mastery operating modern CI/CD platforms like GitHub Actions, Harness, Jenkins, or GitLab.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: Proven ability to write production-quality software, not just scripting. Proficiency in Java (or a similar statically-typed language), solid data structure and algorithms.
- Experience leading technical projects: Proven ability to break down complex architectural efforts, collaborate across teams, and mentor other developers.
- You are authorized to work in the United States. Please note that at this time, Everlaw is not sponsoring U.S. employment visas for this role.
Bonus points
- Hands-on experience defining and evolving cloud infrastructure with Terraform, Helm, or similar tools.
- Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 2) and navigating their change-management requirements.
- Experience using or integrating AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) into developer workflows.
- Hands-on experience scaling multi-language monorepos.

That work is not a side task but the case itself, and where most of the time and money in litigation goes. Everlaw is the litigation and investigation management platform changing that, using AI to turn mountains of messy data into the handful of facts that win or lose a case, compressing weeks of work into hours.
