Position Summary
The Senior Platform Engineer, Network, plays a key role in designing, building, and continuously improving the secure, reliable, and automated network services that support our business. This position spans campus, WAN, wireless, data center connectivity, and cloud environments, and works closely with architecture, infrastructure, security, and application teams to turn approved designs into thoughtfully engineered, supportable solutions. · Strengthen reliability through effective observability, disciplined operational practices, incident response and root cause analysis, participation in the on-call rotation, and thoughtful lifecycle management.
· Proactively identify risks, capacity needs, technical debt, and modernization opportunities, and use those insights to inform service roadmaps and future investments.
· Partner with teams across Technology Services, mentor and develop other engineers, share knowledge openly, and influence technical decisions through expertise and trust rather than direct authority.
Qualifications
Qualifications
· 7+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, infrastructure engineering, network operations, or a closely related field.
· Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, wireless, network segmentation, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, firewalls, load balancing, and packet analysis, along with BGP and other relevant routing protocols.
· Proven experience supporting complex campus, WAN, data center, cloud, and hybrid network environments.
· Practical experience with Python or comparable scripting languages, APIs, Git, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD or GitOps practices.
· Experience implementing and using monitoring, telemetry, logging, and alerting tools, as well as defining and tracking meaningful network performance measures.
· Ability to translate approved architecture into detailed, practical solutions and to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues that span multiple platforms and teams.
· Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor others and provide technical leadership.
· Genuine curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning, with a habit of staying current on emerging network, cloud, and automation technologies and applying new knowledge to improve the platform.
Preferred Skills
· Experience with Arista networking, BlueCat DNS/DHCP/IPAM, Palo Alto firewalls, Kemp load balancers, Aruba wireless, or Citrix networking technologies.
· Experience designing or supporting network connectivity in AWS, Azure, GCP, or comparable cloud environments.
