About this job

About LanceDB

AI advances at the speed of its research, and research moves at the speed of its data. LanceDB is the AI-native Multimodal Lakehouse: one system where a researcher curates petabytes of video, audio, and every signal derived from them with a few lines of Python, and the next training run starts as fast as the next idea. Customers like Runway, Midjourney, and Netflix build the future of AI on LanceDB, from frontier and world models to robots and autonomous vehicles.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager to own the technical content, demos, and competitive work behind our go-to-market. Our buyers are AI researchers and platform engineers and rely heavily on technical proof to back up Marketing claims. Your job is to make sure that material exists, arm our Sales team with it, and distribute it in the right places.

You'll work alongside a product marketing counterpart who owns our positioning, messaging, and core pitch. Your domain is the technical layer underneath it: the demos, benchmarks, deep-dive content, and competitive work that make the story credible to people who will check.

You'll do a combination of owning content development end to end and working with internal and external partners on content development. You won't personally produce every piece of technical material we ship, and you shouldn't. But you should be the person who knows what proof we're missing and gets it made.

This role requires enough technical depth that our engineers want to work with you and our customers take you seriously. We're a small, fast-moving team where scope is still forming, so expect to partner closely with PMM, DevRel, Engineering, and Sales as we continue to evolve our go-to-market motion.

What You'll Do

  • Own the technical proof surface for LanceDB, including benchmarks, reference architectures, technical deep dives, and comparisons. You'll decide what proof we need, produce a good share of it yourself, and scope and shepherd with other subject matter experts when needed.

  • Build hands-on. You'll stand up working demos on LanceDB and ship them as content, conference material, and sales assets without waiting on an Engineering queue.

  • Write, host, and ship our biweekly product update video: an on-camera walkthrough of what we shipped and what it unlocks, with live demos where they make the point better than slides.

  • Partner with Engineering on the deeper technical work by framing the question a benchmark or other technical proof point should answer, pushing for rigor, and translating the result into something the market actually understands.

  • Build customer- and partner-based proof points, including reference architectures drawn from real deployments, joint technical content, and material that shows how serious teams run on LanceDB.

  • Own competitive intelligence end to end. Maintain the competitive picture, run teardowns, and turn what you learn into battlecards, technical objection handling, and win themes.

  • Build the technical half of sales enablement: demo scripts, discovery questions, competitive training, and the proof points that back up our core pitch.

  • Ground everything in real practitioner input: customer and prospect conversations, user research, our open-source community, GitHub and Discord activity, and the questions that keep coming up in sales calls.

  • Partner with the broader Marketing team on launches, campaigns, and events, supplying the technical depth that makes those programs land with a skeptical audience.

What We're Looking For

  • You thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment and enjoy working with high-caliber teams.

  • 5+ years marketing infrastructure or developer products to technical practitioners in product marketing, technical marketing, developer relations, solutions architecture, or an adjacent technical GTM role.

  • Hands-on technical ability. You write Python, work comfortably in notebooks, and can build a working demo on an unfamiliar system without help. We'll ask you to show us something you built.

  • Comfortable on camera and able to carry a recurring video series with minimal support.

  • Depth in AI/ML infrastructure, data infrastructure, databases, or developer tools. You should have enough context to understand what a training pipeline, an embedding workflow, or a petabyte-scale data curation problem actually looks like.

  • Demonstrated competitive marketing chops: you've built the competitive picture for a technical product and turned it into enablement.

  • A strong writer who can go deep without padding.

  • Proven ability to own work end to end without a team to support you. You have taste and strong pattern-matching for common problems, and you move quickly and with confidence.

  • Strong analytic instincts, with the ability to use data to draw conclusions and adjust as needed.

  • You use AI thoughtfully as a marketer, iterating on how it can improve and streamline your work.

  • Excellent communicator who can partner with founders, engineers, and GTM leadership and move fast in a small, high-ownership team.

  • Bonus points for: a background as an engineer, researcher, solutions architect, or developer advocate before moving into marketing.
