About this job

Founding Infrastructure Engineer (New York)

At Solve Intelligence, we’re building AI for the global IP industry. We’re now building our first engineering team in New York.

The Role

You’ll be our first engineer in New York, working closely with our London infrastructure team. You’ll own how Solve is deployed, secured and run for our largest customers in the US. Many of them need fully isolated environments that meet strict security requirements.

This isn’t a ticket queue. You’ll make architectural decisions, write a lot of Terraform, and work directly with the founders and with customers’ security teams.

What you’ll own

  • Repeatable enterprise deployments: Turn our infrastructure into a repeatable process for single-tenant, isolated and air-gapped customer environments.

  • Secure cloud architecture: Design and run our AWS environments with Terraform, including regulated and government-grade environments.

  • Security and compliance engineering: Build controls into the infrastructure itself (IAM, network segmentation, encryption, logging and audit trails). Be the technical owner when customers review our security posture.

  • Reliability and observability: Instrument the stack (OpenTelemetry, Datadog) so we find issues before customers do, and own incident response for US environments.

  • Developer velocity: Improve CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Docker) so the whole team can ship quickly and safely.

What you’ll work on first

  • Make our custom enterprise deployment process repeatable across customers and environments.

  • Harden and document security controls for our US regulated environments.

  • Set up on-call, monitoring and runbooks for US customers.

What You Bring

Must-haves:

  • Terraform expertise: You use it every day and it’s your default tool for infrastructure.

  • Production infrastructure experience: You’ve owned production cloud infrastructure, ideally on AWS, beyond configuring it.

  • CI/CD and containers: Kubernetes or ECS, and deployment pipelines you’ve built yourself.

  • Security fundamentals: IAM, cloud networking, secrets management and least-privilege design.

  • Software engineering ability: Strong Python, and comfortable building backend services and wiring infrastructure into the product.

  • US work authorization: You’re authorized to work in the US.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 environments

  • Early-engineer experience at a startup, or infrastructure work at a hedge fund or quant firm

  • Distributed task queues (Celery/SQS), OpenSearch, or AI/ML infrastructure

  • DevSecOps experience

We care about what you’ve built more than certificates. Tell us about the hardest infrastructure problem you’ve owned.

About Solve Intelligence

  • Traction: 20–30% month-on-month revenue growth, selling to more than 700 IP teams worldwide, including leading US law firms.

  • Proven value: Users report 50–90% efficiency gains.

  • Backing: $55M raised to date, including a $40M Series B, from investors including Y Combinator, 20VC and Visionaries.

Your Team

You’ll work directly with our founding team:

  • Chris (CEO): PhD in AI (UCL), ex-Dyson and the Alan Turing Institute.

  • Angus (CTO): MEng Computer Science, ex-Qualcomm and Coremont (Brevan Howard).

  • Sanj (CRO): PhD in AI (Gatsby Unit, UCL), ex-Huawei R&D.

What We Offer

  • Salary: Competitive base, plus significant equity.

  • Founding impact: You’ll shape our US engineering team and infrastructure from day one.

  • Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental and vision cover, a 401(k), enhanced parental leave and meals in the office.

  • Location: In person in New York, 5 days a week.
