About this job

Position Overview

LaSalle Investment Management is seeking a Strategist to join our US Strategy & Research team. This person will be a vital partner to our investment teams, a respected voice in our strategic debates, and a key contributor to our performance. Their analysis will directly influence investment decisions and contribute to the performance of our U.S. portfolio.

We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate intellectual curiosity, deep interest in real estate market dynamics, and strong communication skills. The role will require producing market forecasts, written analysis, and presentations. The right candidate is more important than a specific title or experience level and we invite applications from outstanding professionals across the career spectrum.

Key Responsibilities & Strategic Impact

The Strategist will be an important contributor to the firm's market views and investment direction. Responsibilities, which will be commensurate with experience, will include:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert: Act as an internal authority on specific US real estate markets and property sectors, sharing views with clients and internal stakeholders, including the Investment Committee, acquisitions officers, asset managers, and portfolio managers.
  • Analyze market conditions for prospective investments: Prepare detailed market analyses for potential acquisitions, covering real estate supply, demand and rent growth, market position, and local economic trends.
  • Develop investment strategy: Synthesize and interpret macroeconomic, capital market, and property sector data to formulate clear, forward-looking investment strategies and recommendations.
  • Guide the creation of analytical tools: Enhance the team's analytical and predictive capabilities by supporting the design and construction of quantitative models to apply to proprietary and third-party datasets in partnership with the LaSalle Quants team.
  • Author thought leadership: Produce white papers, market analyses, and client-facing presentations that reinforce LaSalle's position as a market leader and provide valuable insights to our stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support: Guide the work of junior analysts and summer interns and contribute to their professional development.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical background and a proven ability to translate research into actionable investment insights. Success in this role will be defined by the following attributes:

  • Critical thought: Applying sound judgment to how data is analyzed and information is gathered, weighed, and interpreted, with the discipline to challenge assumptions, reconcile conflicting data, and stress-test conclusions.
  • Deep curiosity: A mindset that pushes past surface-level findings to identify underlying drivers and develop differentiated, well-supported insights.
  • Strategic communication: A demonstrated ability to distill complex information into clear, concise narratives that are compelling to senior business and investment leaders.
  • Commercial acumen: An investor's mindset, with the ability to consistently connect research findings to their direct implications for investment performance, risk, and return.
  • Quantitative aptitude: Advanced knowledge of Excel, statistical analysis, and data visualization techniques required. Experience with modern data science tools (e.g., Databricks, Python) and forecast modeling is a plus.
  • Collaborative influence: The ability to work effectively across the organization and engage in constructive, fact-based debate with colleagues in acquisitions, asset management, and portfolio management.
  • Proven experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in real estate investment research or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree is required and a Master’s degree in business, economics, urban planning, or related field is desired.
