Team Overview

The Global Fraud and Communications Solutions organization develops trusted communications, identity, authentication, and fraud prevention solutions for telecommunications carriers and large enterprises worldwide. The Solutions Architecture team connects customer needs, market intelligence, industry standards, and product strategy to create scalable solutions that accelerate adoption, strengthen customer value, and support revenue growth. This role reports to the SVP, Commercialization.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview and Core Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and develop a global team of senior solutions architects, defining the team’s structure, capabilities, priorities, operating model, and talent-development strategy.
  • Set the global solutions architecture vision and translate portfolio strategy into scalable customer solutions, reference architectures, technical standards, and implementation approaches.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Solutions Consulting, Sales, Marketing, and Business Development to influence product roadmaps, prioritize capabilities, and align technical investments with customer and market needs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to carrier and enterprise executives on architecture, deployment strategy, security, scalability, interoperability, and operational performance.
  • Lead complex architecture discussions and design reviews to ensure solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, commercially viable, and positioned for successful deployment.
  • Develop and execute solution strategies that increase customer adoption, support retention and expansion, improve product readiness, and contribute to revenue growth across global markets.
  • Establish reusable architecture assets, including solution designs, reference implementations, white papers, technical enablement materials, and implementation playbooks for customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Build strategic relationships with technology vendors, industry organizations, and external partners to extend solution capabilities, improve interoperability, and accelerate adoption.
  • Lead technical responses to complex RFIs (Requests for Information) and RFPs (Requests for Proposal) in partnership with Product, Technology, Sales, and Legal teams.
  • Establish and monitor measures for architecture quality, deployment effectiveness, customer adoption, product readiness, revenue enablement, and team capability. This role requires approximately 30% to 40% travel to support customers, partners, industry forums, and internal leadership priorities.

Required Knowledge and Experiences

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in solutions architecture, systems design, software engineering, product development, or technology consulting, including experience designing and delivering complex solutions for telecommunications carriers or large enterprises.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading senior technical teams in a global, matrixed organization, including recruiting, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and capability development.
  • Deep telecommunications domain expertise, particularly across messaging, voice, signaling, identity, authentication, network infrastructure, and carrier-grade environments, to guide customer solution strategy and architecture decisions.
  • Proven ability to influence product strategy and technology roadmaps by translating customer, market, and competitive insights into scalable capabilities and measurable business outcomes.
  • Executive-level communication and advisory experience, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and influence decisions with customer executives, commercial leaders, product teams, and technical stakeholders.

Required Technical Skills

  • Deep expertise in cloud and distributed architecture, including microservices, containers, serverless technologies, CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery), infrastructure automation, and highly available, real-time systems.
  • Experience designing solutions across public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises environments using technologies such as AWS (Amazon Web Services), OpenStack, VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
  • Strong knowledge of REST (Representational State Transfer) APIs, API design, distributed systems, relational and nonrelational databases, messaging and streaming platforms, monitoring, and observability practices.
  • Working proficiency in one or more modern programming languages, such as Java, C++, Python, or Go, with the technical depth to evaluate production-grade software designs and guide architecture decisions.
  • Advanced knowledge of telecommunications, identity, and security technologies, including SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), DNS (Domain Name System), HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), STIR/SHAKEN, OAuth 2.0, session border controllers, cryptography, encryption, PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), authentication, and authorization.

We’re also looking for the preferred skills below. Whether you are proficient or could use some brushing up, we’re happy to support your career development and growth in:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical leadership experience; a master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Experience participating in industry standards organizations such as the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force), ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector), ATIS (Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions), GSMA, or 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project).
  • Experience incorporating open-source technologies into enterprise products, carrier-grade platforms, or customer solutions.
