About this job
What you will do:
As our Peripheral Vascular Associate Division Counsel, you will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to business leaders across Stryker’s newest division. Working closely with the legal team and business partners, you will help shape the legal, compliance, and operational framework supporting the continued growth and evolution of the Peripheral Vascular business. This role offers a unique opportunity to help build a relatively new division, influence business strategy, support integration and transformation initiatives, and partner with cross-functional leaders to solve complex commercial, regulatory, and operational challenges. While the position includes significant hands-on execution, successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate leadership, business acumen, emotional intelligence, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a highly matrixed organization. This role is ideal for an attorney seeking to move beyond traditional legal support into a strategic leadership role within a growing business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to partner closely with division leadership, help shape the future of Peripheral Vascular, and develop the skills and experience necessary for increased leadership responsibility within Stryker’s Legal organization.
This is a hybrid role, requiring the ability to work from our Irvine office 2+ days per week.
- Independently draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of complex commercial agreements while balancing legal risk, business objectives, and stakeholder priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Deliver practical, business-oriented legal guidance on high-impact matters requiring sound judgment, effective stakeholder management, and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with sales, finance, operations, and other key stakeholders across the decentralized organization.
- Provide time-sensitive, solutions-oriented strategic support to internal and external stakeholders on matters that may have a significant financial impact on the company.
- Review advertising and marketing materials for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Demonstrate strong negotiation skills, including comfort negotiating contractual terms with customers.
What you need:
Required:
- JD and admission to practice law in the United States
- 8+ years of professional legal experience
- 3+ years of law firm experience, ideally in private practice
Preferred:
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or strategic business development initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to partner directly with senior business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience operating in a highly regulated healthcare, medical device, life sciences, or pharmaceutical environment
- Experience leading change initiatives, organizational transformations, or business process improvements
- Proven success influencing outcomes across complex matrixed organizations
- Clinical background, including familiarity with clinical trial processes
