About Pinterest

Millions of people come to Pinterest to find inspiration and make their ideas a reality. Our mission is to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love—and the partnerships we build play an important role in making that possible. We are looking for a strategic, commercially minded Business Development Lead to identify, structure, and scale partnerships that create meaningful value for Pinners, customers, partners, and Pinterest.

What you’ll do

  • Develop partnership strategies, with guidance from your manager, that define the highest-priority partnership areas, target partners, and value-exchange frameworks aligned to Pinterest’s business goals.
  • Research and evaluate new partnership opportunities by analyzing customer needs, market dynamics, strategic fit, operational feasibility, and financial impact; translate findings into clear business cases and recommendations.
  • Lead the commercial development of partnership opportunities, including shaping proposals, aligning internal stakeholders, negotiating terms, and driving deals to close with support from relevant subject-matter experts and leadership.
  • Manage a portfolio of partnerships and/or partnership programs, owning key execution deliverables, operating rhythms, performance monitoring, and issue resolution to realize agreed value.
  • Build trusted, productive relationships with external partners and cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Privacy, Policy, Operations, and other relevant functions.
  • Identify partner and stakeholder needs, articulate how Pinterest can address them, and present solutions that connect directly to shared business objectives and challenges.
  • Establish clear success metrics, milestones, and feedback mechanisms for the partnerships you lead; surface risks early, hold stakeholders accountable to commitments, and adapt plans based on results.
  • Make thoughtful, timely recommendations in ambiguous situations by synthesizing quantitative analysis, market context, stakeholder input, and experience; raise and address difficult tradeoffs directly when needed.
  • Represent the voice of partners and customers internally, bringing forward insights that can improve Pinterest’s products, commercial strategy, and partner experience.
  • Contribute functional expertise to the broader Business Development team by sharing negotiation, market-analysis, account-management, and stakeholder-management best practices with peers.

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, corporate development, management consulting, investment banking, strategy, or a related commercial function.
  • Demonstrated experience independently evaluating, structuring, negotiating, and managing complex strategic or commercial partnerships.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, including the ability to assess market and customer conditions, build a compelling business case, and convert analysis into practical recommendations.
  • Proven ability to manage external accounts or partners while balancing partner objectives with Pinterest’s business interests.
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex commercial, strategic, and operational issues clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and a track record of influencing without direct authority across senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment and comfort making decisions amid incomplete information, competing priorities, and evolving conditions.
  • A resilient, accountable, and low-ego approach: you stay calm through setbacks, own outcomes, give direct feedback constructively, and respectfully seek out different perspectives.
  • Experience in consumer internet, advertising, commerce, creator ecosystems, platform partnerships, or technology is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
