About this job

An Introduction to Codal

Codal is an award-winning web design and development consultancy that helps enterprise organizations solve complex problems and accelerate growth through elegant, data-driven digital solutions. Our areas of expertise include application modernization, eCommerce, UX/UI design, product strategy, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.

At Codal, you will collaborate with some of the most innovative organizations in the world and work on cutting-edge technologies that push the boundaries of design and software development. We promote long-term success, not just for our clients but for our team, helping you develop a professional roadmap that takes your career to new heights.

Codal is hiring a hands-on Digital Marketing Lead to own demand generation across paid, organic and AI search, directories, partners, email and social. You will build and lead the team that runs these channels, including our GEO, AIEO and SEO specialists, and hand qualified leads to sales teams.

This is a builder role, not a coordinator role. You have spent 10+ years in digital marketing, you have done this inside a consulting or professional services firm that was scaling, and you still write the brief, build the campaign, read the analytics and fix the funnel yourself. You are early and deep on AI: you understand how buyers now discover vendors through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and similar engines, and you know how to make Codal the answer.

What You'll Do

Own the demand engine

  • Own pipeline contribution from digital channels: paid search and social, organic search, AI search, directories and review sites, partner co-marketing, email and social
  • Set channel budgets, targets and the monthly operating cadence, and report lead volume, cost per qualified lead and pipeline influence to leadership
  • Define what a qualified lead is with Sales, build the scoring and routing in HubSpot, and hand qualified leads to the SDRs in each sales pod with the context they need to convert

Lead on AI search, GEO and SEO

  • Lead the GEO, AIEO and SEO team that sits inside this function, setting the strategy for how Codal shows up in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and traditional search
  • Run the technical and content programs behind it: entity and schema work, citation and source building, content structured for answer engines, and measurement of AI-driven visibility
  • Stay hands-on with the tooling, testing new AI search and marketing tools yourself before rolling them out to the team

Build and lead the team

  • Hire, onboard and manage the digital marketing team across paid, SEO, GEO, email and marketing operations, including agency and contractor partners
  • Build the systems the team runs on: campaign briefs, content and landing page workflows, attribution, dashboards and QA
  • Coach a team that is itself hands-on, and set the bar by doing the work alongside them

Partner across Codal

  • Work with the sales leadership on go-to-market priorities by industry and practice area, and turn them into campaigns
  • Work with practice and industry leads who own the message for their area, giving them the channels and execution to reach the market
  • Coordinate with the content, events and partner marketing teams so campaigns land as one program, not separate pushes

What You Bring

  • 10+ years in B2B digital marketing, with at least 3 years leading demand generation and managing a team
  • Experience at a consulting, agency or professional services firm during a period of growth, where you helped build the marketing function and scale pipeline
  • Deep, current, hands-on experience in AI search: GEO, AIEO and how LLM-based engines select and cite sources, plus a strong SEO foundation (technical, content and off-page)
  • Proven ownership of paid search and paid social budgets with clear cost-per-qualified-lead and pipeline results
  • Hands-on command of HubSpot or a comparable marketing automation and CRM platform, including lead scoring, routing and reporting
  • Fluency in analytics and attribution (GA4, Search Console, Looker Studio or similar) and the ability to build your own dashboards
  • Experience designing the handoff between marketing and SDRs, and working day to day with sales leadership
  • Track record of hiring and developing marketers and managing agencies and contractors
  • Strong writing and briefing skills; you can draft the ad, the landing page and the nurture email yourself

Nice to Have

  • Marketing experience in enterprise ecommerce, digital transformation or AI services
  • Experience with partner and co-marketing programs, including partner directories and marketplace listings
  • Experience with ABM programs targeting named enterprise accounts
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate content production, research and campaign operations

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $120,000 to $160,000 per year, depending on experience and the depth of your AI search and team-building track record. Codal also offers:

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Generous Paid time off and company holidays
  • Hybrid schedule based out of our Chicago headquarters (3 days a week required)
  • Budget for tools, training and conferences, with a focus on AI and search
  • A direct line to the leadership team, and the mandate to build the function your way

We continually review ranges to address skills, experience and markets. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a number of factors that include but aren’t limited to, a candidate’s experience and skills relative to the scope and responsibilities of the position
