About this job

Who we are looking for

The Managing Director, Finance Transformation Governance will lead the governance, risk, and control strategy supporting Finance's transformation agenda. This executive will be responsible for ensuring that business process redesign, automation, technology implementations, data initiatives, and operating model changes are executed within a robust governance and control framework.

As a strategic leader within Finance, the Managing Director will establish and oversee a comprehensive framework to assess the impact of transformation initiatives on Finance processes, risks, controls, regulatory obligations, and policy compliance. The role will serve as a key partner to Finance Transformation, Controllership, Regulatory Reporting, Finance Business Risk Management (BRM), Technology, Compliance, and Enterprise Risk teams to ensure that transformation efforts strengthen operational effectiveness while maintaining a sound control environment.

The successful candidate will drive the integration of risk and control considerations into transformation design, promote the adoption of automated and preventive controls, and ensure that Finance remains aligned with enterprise policies, governance standards, and regulatory expectations throughout periods of change.

What you will be responsible for

Establish and Lead the Finance Transformation Governance Framework

  • Design and implement the governance framework supporting Finance transformation initiatives across the organization.
  • Establish standards, methodologies, and decision-making processes to evaluate transformation activities from a governance, risk, and control perspective.
  • Develop executive reporting, metrics, and governance forums to provide transparency into transformation program risks, dependencies, control impacts, and remediation activities.
  • Advise senior Finance leadership on governance implications associated with strategic investments, organizational redesign, automation initiatives, and technology implementations.
  • Serve as the primary Finance governance leader overseeing the intersection of transformation execution, risk management, and internal controls.

Assess Transformation Impacts on Finance Processes and Controls

  • Establish a consistent framework to identify and assess the impact of transformation initiatives on end-to-end Finance processes, key controls, regulatory reporting obligations, and financial risk management activities.
  • Ensure that process, control, data, and technology impacts are evaluated before significant transformation initiatives are approved and implemented.
  • Lead reviews of future-state operating models to identify emerging risks, control gaps, segregation of duty concerns, and compliance considerations.
  • Oversee process inventories and process mapping efforts to maintain an accurate understanding of how transformation activities affect the Finance control environment.
  • Provide effective challenge and independent review of transformation programs to ensure risks are identified and appropriately mitigated.

Drive Control Design for Automated and Digital Processes

  • Lead the development of Finance's strategy for embedding automated, preventive, and technology-enabled controls within transformed business processes.
  • Partner with Finance Transformation, Technology, and BRM teams to design controls that support new digital workflows, automation tools, AI-enabled solutions, and system implementations.
  • Develop standards and guidance for control rationalization, control automation, and control modernization initiatives.
  • Ensure newly designed controls are sustainable, auditable, scalable, and compliant with regulatory and enterprise requirements.
  • Promote reduction of manual controls through implementation of automated monitoring and preventive control solutions.

Partner Across Finance Business Risk Management

  • Establish strong partnerships across Finance Business Risk Management functions to ensure consistent risk and control practices during transformation initiatives.
  • Coordinate with SOX, Regulatory Reporting, Operational Risk, Issue Management, and Control Testing teams to identify and address transformation-related risks.
  • Ensure transformation programs maintain appropriate risk assessments, control documentation, issue management, and testing requirements.
  • Drive consistency in governance and control standards across Finance organizations undergoing change.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for transformation-related risk and control matters.

Ensure Alignment with Enterprise Governance and Policy Requirements

  • Partner closely with Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Technology Risk, Operational Risk, Corporate Audit, and Corporate Governance functions across the organization.
  • Ensure Finance transformation programs comply with enterprise policies, standards, risk frameworks, and governance requirements.
  • Interpret company policies and governance expectations and translate them into practical requirements for Finance transformation teams.
  • Represent Finance in enterprise governance and risk forums related to major transformation programs and strategic initiatives.

Executive Leadership and Influence

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Chief Accounting Officer & Corporate Controller, CFO organization, and Finance leadership teams regarding transformation governance, risk, and control matters.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across Finance, Technology, Operations, Risk, and Compliance to drive effective transformation outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management.
  • Champion best practices in governance, process excellence, controls, and operational resilience across the Finance organization.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in Finance, Controllership, Finance Transformation, Risk Management, Audit, Regulatory Reporting, or related disciplines.
