State Street Global Delivery Data Operations is seeking a Managing Director to lead the design, commercialization, implementation, and operational management of enterprise data services. This executive will be responsible for converting trusted data capabilities into scalable client and business solutions that deliver measurable operational, commercial, and client outcomes.

Reporting to the Head of Data Operations, this leader will oversee a global organization responsible for data service implementation, solution adoption, operational execution, client onboarding, and continuous service improvement. The successful candidate will combine data expertise, business leadership, operational excellence, and commercial acumen to establish and scale next-generation data services across Global Delivery.

The successful candidate will combine strong operating leadership with commercial judgment, data-management expertise, and the ability to execute complex change. They must be equally comfortable engaging senior clients, shaping a business case, managing production services, resolving delivery challenges, and developing a high-performing global team.

What you will be responsible for?

  • Business and commercial leadership
  • Define and execute the strategy for last-mile and commercial data operations, aligned with the broader Data Operations and Global Delivery strategy.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, and Client teams to translate client demand into differentiated, scalable data-service propositions.
  • Develop business cases and investment priorities based on client value, revenue potential, cost-to-serve, scalability, risk, and strategic alignment.
  • Establish performance measures covering adoption, client outcomes, service quality, financial contribution, productivity, and operating leverage.

Client and product enablement

  • Lead data solutioning, implementation, and adoption for complex client and business requirements.
  • Support senior client engagements, proposals, due diligence, service reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Create a disciplined model for moving capabilities from concept and pilot through implementation and scaled operational delivery.
  • Balance strategic reuse and standardization against legitimate client-specific requirements.

Operational service ownership

  • Own the reliable delivery and operational performance of last-mile data services across multiple products, clients, and geographies.
  • Establish clear service definitions, controls, accountabilities, escalation paths, and performance standards.
  • Drive effective incident, problem, capacity, resiliency, and service-improvement practices.
  • Maintain a strong control environment encompassing data quality, lineage, governance, information security, operational risk, and regulatory obligations.

Transformation and scalability

  • Modernize service delivery through workflow automation, orchestration, reusable data products, platform adoption, and simplified operating processes.
  • Reduce bespoke manual activity and establish scalable delivery patterns that support growth without proportionate increases in cost or operational risk.
  • Partner with Technology and architecture teams to ensure solutions are resilient, sustainable, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards.

People and financial leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing global organization with clear accountability, succession planning, and strong functional expertise.
  • Own workforce planning, budget management, investment prioritization, productivity commitments, and financial performance.
  • Promote an inclusive culture characterized by client focus, constructive challenge, disciplined execution, and continuous learning.

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Strong domain knowledge and hands-on experience in financial services, particularly in Accounting, Custody, Investment Operations and Middle Office functions such as trade capture, confirmation, settlements, reconciliations, and performance measurement
  • Familiar with State Street applications including State Street Core Data, MCH, Custody, DHUB, EHorizon, etc.
  • Familiarity with investment management platforms, custodians, and third-party service providers
  • Deep understanding of data strategy including data lineage, quality, governance and analysis
  • Proven ability to lead transformation initiatives within financial services, with a focus on operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and client service excellence in the asset management or investment operations domain

  • Strong understanding of APIs, cloud-based data delivery, data products, reporting, and digital consumption channels
  • Installing AI tools with governance design and oversight responsibilities
  • Experience managing conflicts among client customization, strategic architecture, operational risk, and commercial return
  • Record of leading global teams through both growth and simplification
