About this job

About the Team

Employee Technology & Experience helps people at OpenAI do their most ambitious work. Across Helpdesk, Executive Support, Systems Operations, Logistics and audiovisual services, we make technology simple, reliable and secure. Employee needs guide what we build, improve and eliminate.

IT Logistics keeps employees equipped, from day 1 readiness to timely replacements and self-service peripherals. We manage the full equipment lifecycle and improve access to hardware as employee needs evolve.

About the Role

We’re hiring an IT Logistics Lead to manage the team that keeps OpenAI employees equipped for their most important work. You’ll run daily operations, evaluate new hardware and introduce equipment and services that address unmet needs.

You’ll own the hardware and peripheral catalog, fulfillment programs, asset management systems and regional operating models. You’ll deliver on IT’s promise: equipment ready on day 1 globally, choices suited to each employee’s location and work, self-service employees trust, and accurate records of what we own, where it is and who has it.

This is a hands-on people management role. You’ll coach team members, manage performance and work alongside them on execution and escalations. With your manager, you’ll set priorities and plan capacity. As customer zero, you’ll use OpenAI products to solve unresolved logistics problems, continually improving accuracy and shortening lead times.

In this role, you will:

  • Own a hardware and peripheral catalog that keeps pace with employee needs, with new equipment options and devices ready for use with current, validated software images and configurations.

  • Deliver day 1 readiness globally, with equipment suited to each employee’s location and work. Ensure timely fulfillment, refreshes, replacements, loaners, telecom and mobility, and high-risk travel services as offices and programs expand.

  • Own and scale the employee IT vending machine program and other self-service channels as services employees trust, with the right peripherals available, machines working every time and tightly managed shrinkage.

  • Own asset accountability across the full lifecycle, with 100% accurate records that reconcile to physical inventory and trusted chain of custody from receipt through recovery, reuse and secure disposition.

  • Own forecasting, capacity and logistics performance to continually improve accuracy, shorten lead times and keep equipment available. Control lifecycle costs, reduce excess stock and waste, and maintain service through supply disruptions.

  • Use OpenAI products, including Codex and agents, as customer zero to solve previously unresolved logistics problems and improve accuracy, speed and scale, with appropriate evaluation, security and human oversight.

  • Manage and develop team members so each person builds skills, takes ownership and delivers excellent work. Build team and delivery partner capability that sustains quality and consistency as demand grows.

  • Scale service globally with accountable regional partners and repeatable operations that meet local needs while maintaining speed, inventory accuracy and a consistent employee experience.

  • Keep daily operations reliable as demand changes, with timely escalation resolution, capacity and commitments aligned with your manager, and clear decision ownership across engineering, security, support, workplace, finance and procurement.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • Led inventory and fulfillment across multiple sites or regions, owning forecasting, delivery partners, service performance and cost, with sustained improvements in accuracy, reconciliation, shrinkage, availability and lead times.

  • Delivered automation and AI-enabled workflows used in daily operations, including solutions to previously unresolved problems. You can explain your contribution, measurable results, reliability testing, security controls and human oversight.

  • Managed people through rising demand and changing priorities, with responsibility for goals, feedback, performance and development. Your coaching helped individuals build skills, take ownership and improve their work.

  • Launched services that met employee or customer needs, balancing usability, cost, security and control. You align partners, make sound technical and business decisions, communicate candidly and own adoption and results.
