About this job

Here at Scout Motors, we're carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history. A vehicle dating back to 1960. One that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and trucks and will do so once again.

But Scout is more than just a brand, it’s a legacy steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work.

The Scout brand is all about respect. Respect for the past and the future by taking an iconic American brand that hasn’t been around for a while, electrifying it, digitizing it, and loading it with American innovation. Respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and its customers. Respect for both work and play, with vehicles that are equally at home at a camp site, a job site, or on a Tuesday commute. And respect for our customers by developing two powertrains that meet their requirements — an all-electric powertrain as well as the Harvester™ range extender powertrain which includes a built-in gas-powered generator with an estimated 500 miles of combined range.

At Scout Motors, we empower our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams to innovate. What makes a Scout employee? Someone who is a visionary and a leader, who seeks new paths and shares lessons learned. A knowledgeable doer who collaborates across the company to build better. A go-getter with unrivaled passion.

Join us at Scout Motors and be part of shaping the future of transportation. If you're ready to drive change and make history, apply now!

Overview

The Lead, Occupational Health & Wellness will serve as a senior subject matter expert responsible for leading Scout Motors’ occupational health, ergonomics, injury-prevention, and workforce wellness programs. Reporting to the Senior Director, EHS, this role will lead third-party occupational health services, early-intervention and injury-prevention programs, and cross-functional initiatives supporting employee health, safe work, and effective return-to-work outcomes.

The role will serve as a key integration point between EHS, HR, Risk & Insurance, Operations, medical providers, and other internal stakeholders. Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Lead will translate health, injury, ergonomic, and operational data into practical programs and interventions that support employee well-being, risk reduction, and effective workforce health management. The role will exercise independent judgment on significant and unique occupational health issues, evaluate clinical, operational, and business intangibles, influence diverse stakeholders, and contribute to company objectives through programs that may impact the broader EHS function.

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

Occupational Health & Wellness Program Leadership

  • Lead occupational health and wellness programs supporting Scout Motors employees and operations, establishing approaches that contribute to company objectives and may impact the broader EHS function.
  • Serve as the primary liaison and senior subject matter expert with third-party occupational health clinic, telehealth triage, early-intervention, and other health-service providers.
  • Establish service expectations, monitor provider performance, exercise independent judgment on significant service issues, and drive continuous improvement in occupational health service delivery.
  • Coordinate appropriate care, triage, and escalation for work-related injuries, illnesses, and on-site health events in partnership with medical providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead medical surveillance, work-conditioning, early-symptom intervention, and other preventive health programs based on operational risk and workforce needs.
  • Lead workforce well-being and mental health initiatives in partnership with HR, clinical providers, and other internal stakeholders.

Ergonomics & Injury Prevention

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Scout Motors’ ergonomics and injury-prevention programs.
  • Partner with Design, Engineering, Production, EHS, and other stakeholders to integrate ergonomic principles into tools, equipment, workstations, processes, and workplace design.
  • Apply broad occupational health and ergonomic expertise, recognized risk-assessment methods, operational knowledge, injury data, and emerging technologies to identify significant or unique risks and develop practical preventive solutions.
  • Analyze injury, illness, and ergonomic performance data, including less-defined factors and competing priorities, to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and priorities for intervention.
  • Use ergonomic assessments and operating data to establish early-intervention, conditioning, and injury-prevention strategies.

Return-to-Work, Case Coordination, & Occupational Health Risk

  • Lead return-to-work and transitional-duty programs with HR, Operations, Risk & Insurance, medical providers, and other stakeholders to support safe and effective employee transitions.
  • Guide identification of appropriate temporary or modified work consistent with medical restrictions and operational requirements, resolving significant or sensitive issues through independent judgment and stakeholder alignment.
  • Partner with Risk & Insurance, HR, medical providers, and operational leaders on workers’ compensation case trends, loss-control opportunities, and return-to-work strategies.
  • Lead occupational and industrial hygiene initiatives, including exposure assessment, monitoring, and the translation of health-risk data into practical controls.
  • Direct external technical support, sampling, studies, or assessments where specialized occupational health or industrial hygiene expertise is required.

Program Analytics, Compliance & Cross-Functional Integration

  • Analyze occupational health, injury, ergonomic, and provider-performance data to identify trends, risks, intangible factors, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain program metrics, reporting, recommendations, and advanced presentations to support leadership visibility and informed decision-making.
  • Ensure occupational health and wellness programs operate in accordance with applicable company standards, internal requirements, and relevant EHS regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate program documentation, records, and information necessary to support effective governance and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate across EHS, HR, Risk & Insurance, Operations, and other functions to align occupational health programs with business and workforce needs, convey advanced information, and persuade diverse stakeholders toward effective solutions.
