As part of the Field Operations / Technical Services team, you will serve as the technical authority supporting field operations and service scope development across a growing portfolio of electrical infrastructure assets nationwide.
This role blends hands-on electrical field leadership with remote technical support and strategic service development. Based in Fort Worth, TX, you will collaborate with technicians, subcontractors, customers, operations teams, and centralized support functions to deliver safe, high-quality electrical testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability services.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in low- and medium-voltage power systems (600V through 15kV), strong safety and compliance knowledge, and a proven track record leading complex electrical field work. You are comfortable mentoring technicians, supporting customer-facing technical discussions, and providing expert guidance on electrical reliability, preventive maintenance, testing, and repair strategies.
What You'll Do
- Lead technical execution of complex electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, outage, and restoration activities across customer sites nationwide.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to Electrical Technicians I-V and subcontractors during field operations involving switchgear, substations, transformers, breakers, protective relays, ATS, MCCs, grounding systems, and related electrical distribution equipment.
- Support NOC/SOC teams by providing advanced remote troubleshooting and escalation support for EV charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, and electrical distribution assets.
- Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), electrical work plans, lockout/tagout procedures, and arc-flash mitigation strategies while promoting a strong culture of safety and compliance.
- Develop and review repair, testing, maintenance, and reliability scopes for the Service Quote team, including labor estimates, materials, testing methodologies, outage requirements, and subcontractor needs.
- Evaluate electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, test data, and field reports to identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and improve service quality.
- Mentor field technicians and contribute to the development of qualification standards, training pathways, troubleshooting procedures, and electrical service best practices across the organization.
Your Experience and Capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, military electrical training, electrical apprenticeship, utility training, vocational education, OEM testing programs, or equivalent industry experience
- 8+ years of electrical testing, maintenance, commissioning, power distribution, industrial electrical field service, or related electrical infrastructure experience
- Current NETA Level III certification or comparable NICET Electrical Power Testing credential required; NETA Level IV preferred
- Strong hands-on experience with low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems up to 15kV
- Experience leading complex field projects including planned outages, commissioning activities, shutdowns, and emergency restoration efforts
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, ANSI/NETA standards, IEEE guidance, and electrical safety best practices
- Experience using CMMS, asset management systems, reporting tools, and remote troubleshooting platforms
- Strong technical leadership, customer-facing communication, problem-solving, organizational skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work safely in electrical rooms, substations, industrial environments, and while wearing required PPE
- Ability to travel up to 40% nationally, including occasional nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- NETA Level IV certification
- Protective relay testing experience
- Medium-voltage substation experience
- Experience supporting NFPA 70B preventive maintenance programs
- Experience working with EV charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and microgrid technologies
- Experience supporting distributed national field service organizations
