Job Description

Location:

New York, NY

Condé Nast is seeking a Manager to analyze and help improve performance across our consumer subscription business. This role will focus on tracking and interpreting the metrics that drive customer acquisition, retention, and subscriber economics, and turning those findings into clear, useful insights for our marketing and business teams.

We are looking for someone who understands how a customer acquisition business works, ideally within a subscription model. The right candidate can recognize which metrics matter, identify meaningful performance changes, investigate likely drivers, and explain what the results suggest about opportunities or challenges.

This is a business-oriented analytics role, with a greater emphasis on understanding and interpreting business performance than on data engineering, programming, or advanced statistical modeling. The Manager will work with analytics and data partners to obtain reliable information and use it to answer business questions. The role will provide performance data and supporting analysis for budgeting and forecasting.

Primary Responsibilities
Business Performance & KPI Analysis

  • Monitor and analyze subscription orders, conversion rates, channel mix, acquisition costs, retention, LTV, ARPU, and other key performance metrics across brands and acquisition channels.
  • Identify significant trends, performance gaps, and changes in results; investigate the factors contributing to those changes.
  • Distinguish meaningful underlying performance shifts from changes caused by channel mix, timing, pricing, promotions, or measurement differences.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve acquisition efficiency, conversion, subscriber quality, and long-term customer value.
  • Ask the right follow-up questions when performance differs from expectations, and use data to test possible explanations.

Performance Measurement & Analysis

  • Track performance against acquisition and retention targets, highlighting significant variances and potential drivers.
  • Analyze campaigns, channels, pricing, promotions, and conversion initiatives to understand their impact on customer orders and business results.
  • Prepare accurate performance inputs and supporting analysis for broader business planning, budgeting, and forecasting teams as needed.
  • Help maintain consistent definitions and reporting for core business KPIs, and flag data-quality or measurement issues.

Insights, Reporting & Collaboration

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reporting and concise explanations of what changed, why it may have changed, and what deserves further attention.
  • Communicate findings and practical recommendations clearly to marketing, growth, and analytics stakeholders.
  • Partner with Growth, Paid Marketing, CRM, Site, Brand, Finance, Operations, and data teams to answer business questions and support performance reviews.
  • Work with technical analytics partners to clarify data needs, validate outputs, and interpret results.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing analytics, growth analytics, subscription analytics, business performance, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of the operating metrics and economics of a customer acquisition business; subscription experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret business KPIs, identify significant performance trends, and investigate the factors driving results.
  • Familiarity with conversion rates, customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, retention/churn, revenue per subscriber, and channel performance.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, attention to detail, and proficiency with spreadsheets and business intelligence or reporting tools.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly, prioritize the most important takeaways, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Finance, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Technical Skills

  • SQL experience is helpful, and familiarity with statistical tools or Python/R is a plus, but advanced coding and data engineering skills are not required. More important is the ability to understand the business question, identify the relevant metrics, and interpret the results accurately.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $110,000-$125,000.  Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
