We Do Consulting Differently

Bring your research to the questions that shape markets, industries, and high-stakes legal outcomes. As a Managing Economist in BRG’s Economics, Disputes, and Investigations practice, you will work alongside leading economists, academics, industry specialists, and data professionals to apply economic theory, empirical research, and rigorous analysis to complex real-world matters.

BRG combines world-leading academic credentials with practical business expertise and a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture. Our economists contribute to significant litigation and consulting engagements, including matters involving antitrust and competition, intellectual property, securities and financial markets, and other complex economic disputes. With direct access to senior professionals and experts, you will have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of your work, expand your technical and leadership capabilities, and build a long-term career as an economic consultant.

BRG has been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Management Consulting Firms and by Global Competition Review as a leading economics consultancy. Our continued growth creates outstanding opportunities for 2027 job market candidates who want to deepen their expertise, solve consequential problems, and develop in a firm that prioritizes intellectual rigor, collaboration, and career growth.

We are seeking Economists, Financial Economists, and Econometricians who are motivated to address complex applied economics questions. BRG supports the development of its PhD hires through hands-on engagement experience, structured training, and mentorship from senior staff and experts. Our economists work in highly collaborative environments across our Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. offices.

This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with strong analytical abilities, excellent organizational and writing skills, and a desire to collaborate as an integral member of our project teams. Ideal candidates will have prior experience or a strong interest in litigation or economic consulting.

Managing Economists execute and oversee engagement workstreams that may be quantitative or qualitative. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing economic, statistical, and financial analyses.
  • Developing models of financial data and markets.
  • Managing client relationships and developing and presenting client deliverables.
  • Managing and mentoring junior staff.
  • Conducting quality control and industry research and contributing to business development.

This position offers advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing expert services and consulting firm.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in economics from a reputable university, with a research focus in empirical industrial organization, applied economics, microeconomics, econometrics, finance, or labor economics.
  • Experience applying econometric modeling techniques.
  • Prior internship or work experience in antitrust, securities, financial economics, or capital markets is preferred.
  • A strong interest in economic, statistical, or financial analysis and research.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence tools to support research, data analysis, modeling, or other analytical workflows.
  • A strong record of technical expertise demonstrated through authored publications or research.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analytical or relational database software, such as Stata, R, or Microsoft SQL, and a desire to expand those capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, analytical, and leadership skills.

This year, BRG is offering an early decision process for candidates who intend to focus their job search on private-sector economic consulting. To qualify, candidates must expect to complete their PhD by spring 2027 or earlier. The application deadline is October 18, 2026. To be considered, please submit a résumé, cover letter, job market paper, and two letters of recommendation using the link below. In addition, please email [email protected] to indicate your interest in the early decision process. Interviews will take place in November and December, and offers are expected to be made before the end of the year. Candidates who participate in the early decision process should be prepared to decide on any offer received before the American Economic Association (AEA) Annual Meeting in January.

For candidates following the standard AEA job market timeline, the application deadline is January 31, 2027. First-round interviews will be conducted virtually after the application deadline. Candidates who advance will be asked to present their job market paper and participate in additional interviews with BRG staff and experts at one of the listed offices.
