About this job

What is Kalshi?

Kalshi has defined a new category: prediction markets. Kalshi allows people to trade on the outcome of any events and turn any question about the future into a financial asset. Kalshi fought for years and legalized prediction markets in the US for the first time in history, is currently the fastest growing financial market in America, and has thousands of markets across politics, economics, financials, weather, tech, AI, culture and more.

We believe prediction markets have the potential to be the largest financial market because they turn anything into a financial position.

  • Our vision: well… build the largest financial market on the planet.

  • Our mission: bring more truth to the world through the power of markets.

Our culture is simple: we hire really talented people, work really hard, and enjoy the climb. We are looking for ambitious and exceptional people to join our (relatively small) team to help us build the next generation of financial markets.

Role Roadmap

In the Sports Operations function at Kalshi, you'll be a critical member ensuring our sports markets run flawlessly. The Sports Operations team is responsible for the precise execution of sports market listings, determinations, and maintaining the integrity of our sports prediction markets.

What You'll Do

  • Execute the listing of sports markets with precision, ensuring all markets are properly configured and accurately reflect game conditions, player availability, and league rules. Make rapid determinations on market outcomes based on official league data, box scores, and verified sports sources while managing time-sensitive settlement windows.

  • Structure sports markets to capture the true axis of disagreement between traders, understanding the nuances between different contract types (spreads, totals, props, futures). Make strategic decisions about how to frame markets around games, seasons, player performances, and sporting events to maximize liquidity and trading interest.

  • Build out and prioritize the sports market listing pipeline across all major leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NCAA) and international competitions. Balance pre-game, in-play, and futures markets while responding to breaking news like injuries, trades, and lineup changes that affect market demand and trading volumes.

  • Leverage deep understanding of how sportsbooks operate to identify market opportunities, understand edge cases in settlement scenarios, and ensure our markets capture the sophistication that sports traders expect. Navigate complex scenarios like postponements, player scratches, overtime rules, and stat corrections.

  • Maintain encyclopedic knowledge of league-specific rules, tiebreakers, playoff structures, and statistical definitions across all sports. Ensure markets are structured with airtight settlement criteria that account for sport-specific edge cases (rain delays, technical fouls, injury timeouts, VAR decisions, etc.).

  • Monitor live games and sports news across multiple leagues simultaneously, quickly responding to events that require market suspension, clarification, or settlement. Manage high-volume periods like NFL Sundays or March Madness with precision while multitasking across numerous concurrent events.

  • Work with structured, time-sensitive sports data feeds to ensure accurate market parameters, real-time updates, and proper settlement. Identify and resolve data discrepancies quickly to maintain market integrity.

  • Issue timely clarifications on sports markets when ambiguities arise (injury designations, weather impacts, rule interpretations), maintaining trader trust through clear, authoritative communications about sports-specific situations.

  • Work closely with Contracts, Product, and Engineering teams to implement sports-specific operational improvements, integrate new data sources, and expand our sports market offerings.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, sports management, mathematics, or a related field.

  • Encyclopedic knowledge of sports across multiple leagues with deep understanding of rules, playoff structures, tiebreakers, and statistical categories for NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, and major NCAA sports.

  • Extensive experience with sportsbooks – understanding how sportsbooks operate, common market types, settlement procedures, and the edge cases that arise in sports market operations.

  • Experience working with structured, time-sensitive sports data including real-time feeds, official league data sources, and sports statistics platforms.

  • Genuine passion for sports with the ability to follow multiple games simultaneously and stay current on player news, injuries, trades, and team dynamics across all major leagues.

  • Exceptional multitasking abilities to manage numerous live markets during peak periods while maintaining accuracy in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.

  • Deep understanding of sportsbook nuances and edge cases including suspended games, protest outcomes, stat corrections, and unusual scoring scenarios that affect market settlement.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly interpret box scores, game situations, and official rulings to make sound operational decisions.

  • Experience trading on Kalshi, sportsbooks, DFS platforms, or other prediction markets is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent written communication skills for drafting clear market clarifications on complex sports scenarios and settlement decisions.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends to cover live sporting events across different time zones.

  • Hardworking mentality with a commitment to operational excellence and the stamina to maintain focus during extended periods of live sports coverage.
