About this job

ABOUT GOODR

We create and sell active eyewear for anyone. No Slip. No Bounce. All Polarized. All Fun. Interested in joining our team? Keep reading.

OUR VALUES: We have two core values: Fun & Authenticity.

  • FUN = Being sh*tty isn’t fun. Agreed? Taking pride in your work, finding joy in being GREAT, and celebrating wins… and losses. Now, that’s fun!
  • AUTHENTICITY = Focusing on being authentic over being liked. (Next-level guru stuff. Count it.)

Fun Fact: We do not allow email to be sent internally. Carrier pigeons only. JK, we use Slack.

AUTONOMY: We practice autonomy, empowerment, and accountability so that every team member can be in control of their own life.

  • HYBRID WORKING: This role is required to be in the Inglewood office every Tuesday and Thursday with the occasional third day thrown in.
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: We have an all-company learning program so that we’re constantly leveling up our skills.

SUSTAINABILITY: We think Earth’s pretty rad. That’s why we take action wherever possible to limit our impact on the planet.

  • 1% FOR THE PLANET MEMBER: 1% of goodr’s annual sales go directly to environmental organizations.
  • CARBON NEUTRAL: In 2019, goodr became a 100% carbon neutral company.

Fun Fact: goodr celebrates every Earth Day by releasing limited-edition sunglasses with frames made from 100% recycled materials—and the packaging is 100% sustainable, too!

ABOUT THE ROLE

Do you love taking care of people? Check.
Do you love flawless paydays, crisp benefits offerings, and airtight compliance? Double-check.

As our Payroll & Benefits People Operations Manager, you are a master of the details who owns our payroll and benefits landscape. Working closely with our People Operations Director, you’ll take full ownership of end-to-end payroll in ADP, spearhead a complete redesign of our benefits programs, lead the evaluation and recommendation of our future payroll platform, and optimize our People Operations systems and processes to support our next stage of growth.

THE VIBE: High autonomy, zero fluff, maximum impact. You’ll tackle big system improvements, solve operational puzzles independently, and keep our HR engine running smoothly. You up for the challenge? Let’s talk.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and administer People Operations programs, with a primary focus on payroll and benefits administration
  • Manage end-to-end payroll operations in our HRIS (we use ADP!), including recommending and leading future system implementations
  • Spearhead the redesign of our  benefit programs and build a new strategic partnership with an external benefits broker
  • Manage HR operational vendors, PEO partnerships, and other external partners to optimize service delivery and cost efficiency
  • Own all employee lifecycle transactions, including organizational changes, reporting relationships, headcount tracking/reporting, and Ecosystem deck updates
  • Lead People Operations for onboarding, offboarding, and leaves of absence, including ADP setup, exit operations, Form I-9s, and compliance records
  • Manage open enrollments, employee benefits education, and continuous improvements to our processes to drive scalable HR solutions
  • Analyze People metrics and operational reporting to support data-driven decision-making across the organization
  • File required annual compliance reports, including EEO-1, California Pay Data, OSHA, and workers’ compensation
  • Own workers’ compensation administration, including claims, documentation, and return-to-work coordination
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all employee data, records, notices, acknowledgments, and audit documentation
  • Partner with People Operations to support operational workflows and documentation for employee relations in partnership with People Operations Partners
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on federal and multi-state employment laws (ADA, FMLA, COBRA, FLSA, ERISA), ensuring operational compliance
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and optimize People Operations systems and workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • This is an individual contributor role that leads through influence and expertise
  • This role is in the People Operations team and will report directly to the SVP of People
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • 5+ years of progressive People Operations or HR Operations experience, with experience owning multi-state payroll and benefits administration
  • Hands-on experience administering ADP (Total Source preferred) or a comparable HRIS and payroll platform
  • Proven experience leading HRIS, payroll, and People technology implementations, integrations, and system enhancements
  • Experience administering employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability benefits, and 401(k) retirement plans
  • Demonstrated experience redesigning benefits offerings and establishing high-value partnerships with external benefits brokers
  • Ability to navigate complex, sensitive employee matters with empathy, diplomacy, and grace
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills with high proficiency in Google Workspace and modern HRIS platforms
  • Professional certification in Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, or a related discipline (e.g., SHRM, HRCI, CPP, CEBS) is a plus
