About this job
Fauna Robotics is building capable, safe, and delightful robots for everyday life. We are hiring a Principal Technical Program Manager to lead how robot software ships at Fauna. Our products improve with each software release: new features and skills make robots already in the hands of developers and partners more useful.
In this role, you will own the software release program end-to-end, from planning to deployment. This includes how we move research into the product, how hardware changes are reflected in software, and how we deliver a great software experience to customers. You will build the planning mechanisms for the software organization, drive excellence in execution, and lead our largest launches
Key job responsibilities
- Own the robot software release program: cadence, go/no-go criteria, staged rollouts, and rollback decisions
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, science, and manufacturing programs so that robot software is ready to ship on time and with high quality
- Build roadmaps, dependency tracking, and status reporting for the software org and own the integration plan for major launches and demos
- Define release quality bars with QA and engineering, and use test results, telemetry, and field reports to decide when to ship
- Set the multi-year plan for how Fauna ships robot software as the fleet and the org grow, and build mechanisms for the long term
- Find problems that recur across teams and fix the process that causes them, and handle escalations as they happen across the program
- Present program status, risks, and tradeoffs to senior leadership
About the team
Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is building capable, safe, and genuinely delightful robots for everyday life. Our goal is simple: make robots people actually want to live and interact with in everyday human spaces.
We believe that future won't arrive until building for robotics becomes far more accessible. Today, too much effort is spent reinventing the fundamentals. We're changing that by developing tightly integrated hardware and software systems that make it faster, safer, and more intuitive to create real-world robotic products.
Our work spans the full stack: mechanical design, control systems, dynamic modeling, and intelligent software. The focus is not just functionality, but experience. We're building robots that feel responsive, expressive, and genuinely useful.
At Fauna, you'll work at the frontier of this space, helping define how robots move, manipulate, and interact with people in natural environments. It's an opportunity to solve hard problems across hardware and software with a team focused on making robotics accessible and joyful to build.
If you care about making robotics real for everyone and building systems that are as delightful as they are capable, we're interested in hearing from you.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience leading software release programs for products that run on physical devices, such as robots, vehicles, consumer electronics, or connected home devices
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience bringing machine learning models from research into a shipping product
- Experience aligning software releases with hardware development stages (EVT, DVT, PVT)
- Experience with release engineering, CI/CD, or hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Experience running releases for developer-facing products such as SDKs or APIs
- Experience with over-the-air update delivery and staged fleet rollouts
- Experience shipping software on embedded Linux or on robotics frameworks such as ROS 2
