About this job
💡 Mission
The US healthcare system is complex, error-prone, and financially draining. Medical bills and insurance coverage shouldn't be this hard to navigate. At Granted, we're building the one solution every American can turn to for help.
Thanks to AI and new regulations, Granted can fight claim denials, correct billing errors, negotiate bills, and make coverage easier to understand, saving people time, money, and energy. Our goal is simple: to be the platform that empowers all Americans to take charge of their healthcare.
🩺 About Us
Founded by a former Oscar Health leader, we're a seed-stage company with $17M in funding. We're lucky to be backed by the founders and investors at Hugging Face, Rocket Money, Oscar Health, CaseText, Forerunner Ventures, RRE Ventures, and more. We are well-funded and have solid runway.
Bill lowering is the hook. People come to us when they have a bill they can't afford or don't understand. Granted checks it, catches errors, overcharges and denials, secures financial assistance, and negotiates with providers. That earns us the right to be connected to their insurance and their patient data, and from there Granted runs in the background, proactively monitoring every bill to help patients lower and pay what they owe.
🔎 About the Role
Our Growth & Engagement pod builds the experience people have when they first meet Granted and the reasons they keep coming back. We're building a consumer-first product that makes navigating bills and benefits intuitive, transparent, and even delightful.
As a product engineer on this team, you'll ship across the stack with a lean toward the frontend (roughly 70% frontend, 30% backend). You’ll use new AI-native software paradigms, leveraging the frontier of software development tooling to build a world class application. You'll work closely with Product, Design, and senior engineers on the pod, owning features from idea to production, with plenty of room to grow your scope as you ramp.
🚀 What You'll Do
Build and ship user-facing experiences across web and mobile, from onboarding and activation flows to core engagement loops
Own features end-to-end: shape the UX with Product and Design, build the APIs and data models behind them, and ship to production
Turn AI capabilities into clear, intuitive product surfaces that help users understand and resolve their healthcare bills
Run fast experiments, measure what works, and iterate on what moves activation and retention
Raise the quality bar on our frontend: performance, accessibility, and consistency with our design system
🧪 What You Might Work On
Onboarding and account-linking flows that get users from sign-up to their first savings faster
The in-app AI chat experience, including richer, visual responses and smoother streaming UX
Home and case views that show users exactly where their bills stand and what Granted is doing for them
Re-engagement surfaces and notifications that bring users back when there's something new to act on
Coverage and plan pages that make benefits easier to understand
🛠 Tech Stack
TypeScript frontend & backend
React Native, NextJS, NestJS, GraphQL
Postgres, amplitude, sentry, datadog

👩💻 You'll Bring
Must-haves
2+ years of full-stack engineering experience shipping consumer-facing products
Strong TypeScript and React skills, with a real eye for UX and product detail
Solid backend experience: you've built your own APIs and worked with relational databases (we're not fixated on GraphQL or a specific DB)
Product instinct: you think in user journeys, not just tickets, and can push back on requirements when something doesn't make sense
Curiosity about building with AI and LLMs, whether or not you've done it professionally yet
Comfort in fast-paced, high-autonomy environments, with clear communication and a hunger to grow into more scope
Nice-to-haves
React Native or other mobile experience
Experience with NestJS/Node, GraphQL, or NextJS
Experience running growth experiments (A/B tests, funnels, analytics instrumentation)
Exposure to AWS or infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Pulumi)
Background in healthcare, fintech, or other regulated consumer products
📢 You don't need to check every single box. If you're passionate, driven, and excited about the impact AI can make on the healthcare system, we'd love to hear from you!
