About this job

At Maersk, we’re transforming global supply chains through end-to-end integrated logistics. As a global leader in connecting and simplifying trade, we help businesses move goods seamlessly across ocean, air, landside transportation, and warehousing, all supported by cutting edge technology and an extensive global network.

We’re committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, heard, and able to be themselves. Our team members come from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, and we value the unique strengths each person contributes. With over 100,000 employees across 130 countries, we work together to shape the future of global trade and logistics.

About the role

We are looking for a Regional Risk Manager, NAM/LAM to take ownership of key insurance and risk management processes across North America and Latin America.

This is a newly created regional role designed to bring risk management and insurance expertise closer to the business, strengthen ownership and consistency of insurance processes across our frontline organization, and create stronger connections between regional operations and our global Risk Management organization.

You will act as a trusted business partner, helping teams assess risks and articulate risk appetite and navigate insurance, risk transfer, contractual and physical risks while turning global frameworks into practical solutions that work for the region. The role combines regional leadership, hands-on problem solving, stakeholder partnership and insurance expertise, with the opportunity to help shape how the position evolves over time.

What We offer

This is an exciting career opportunity to work in a truly international company that makes global trade happen. You will be interacting daily with passionate colleagues around the world, giving you the opportunity to develop your professional skills in a global environment. Through the training and support we provide and learning on the job, you will have the chance to truly take your career all the way.

  • Shape a newly created regional role with the opportunity to influence how insurance and risk processes are embedded across NAM and LAM.
  • Partner directly with the business, helping regional teams find practical solutions around risk transfer, insurance and contractual risk rather than operating solely within a central function.
  • Work across a broad stakeholder network, partnering with Global Risk Management, Finance, Procurement, Legal, HSE/HSSEQ, regional leadership and operations.
  • Lead and develop a regional team, with approximately three team members reporting into the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead regional insurance activities across North America and Latin America, including insurance placement, claims support, insurance finance matters and loss prevention.
  • Manage regional and local insurance programs, coordinating risk assessments, exposure and insurance information, valuations, local policies, premium allocation, invoicing and claims documentation.
  • Partner with business and functional stakeholders to translate Maersk’s insurance framework into practical, responsive solutions that support regional operations.
  • Manage key external relationships with insurance companies, brokers, surveyors, loss adjusters, claims service providers and external legal counsel.
  • Advise on insurance requirements and contractual risk, including liability provisions in leases and customer contracts, vendor insurance requirements and certificates.
  • Establish clear governance and accountability for insurance activities, documentation, compliance monitoring, escalation mechanisms and approval of non-standard insurance arrangements.
  • Drive consistency and continuous improvement across regional insurance processes, supporting effective controls, complete documentation and strong service to the business.

Who we are looking for

We recognize that experience comes in many forms. If you don’t meet every qualification, we still encourage you to apply.

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance, underwriting, brokerage, risk management or a related field.
  • Experience in marine, aviation, logistics, shipping, cargo or transportation insurance is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of insurance policy structures, coverage interpretation, insurance programs and renewal processes.
  • Experience reviewing contracts, insurance provisions or liability provisions. A legal background is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior stakeholders and operational teams, combining technical expertise with a practical, service-oriented approach. Business partnering is a key requirement for the position.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret and communicate complex operational, exposure and risk information.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to support and develop a regional team while working effectively across international and cross-functional environments.
  • A proactive, curious and collaborative mindset, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
