About this job

Join us in pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably.

Our inspiring and caring environment forms a global community that celebrates diversity and individuality. We encourage you to step beyond your comfort zone, offering resources and flexibility to foster your professional and personal growth, all while valuing your unique contributions.

Join our global team as Senior Director Insurance & Risk Financing and lead Siemens Healthineers’ insurance activities across the Americas, with a particular focus on US operational insurance risk management, including workers’ compensation and automobile risks.

The role reports to the Global Head of Corporate Insurance and supports the implementation of the global corporate insurance strategy within the Americas. Within the global governance framework and strategic direction established by Global Corporate Insurance, you will manage regional insurance operations, place and renew locally required US-insurance programs, coordinate internal and external stakeholders and provide professional insurance and risk-management advice to the businesses.

You will lead and develop a regional team, expected to comprise two associates.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • You lead the operational insurance and risk management for the Americas as part of a multinational organization, ensuring effective implementation of the global insurance strategy, policies and governance framework. You service the corporate insurance programs locally and oversee regional insurance programs, annual renewals, exposure-data collection, coverage administration and the transition to independently administered insurance arrangements.
  • You are responsible for the US insurance portfolio, including workers’ compensation, automobile, and other locally required coverages. As the primary US contact for brokers and insurers, you manage broker relationships, renewals and insurer negotiations and drive the US placement strategy in alignment with Global Corporate Insurance.
  • You oversee significant claims, settlement strategies, loss developments and litigation reviews, working with the businesses, brokers, insurers and claims administrators to drive effective claims resolution and sustainable risk reduction.
  • You direct the regional claims, actuarial and reserve-management processes, including the validation of claims data, coordination of actuarial reviews and reserve calculation, loss forecasting and support for external audits. You ensure the quality, transparency and consistency of claims and reserve information and manage communication among actuaries, auditors, insurers, brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • You oversee insurance collateral and financial administration for the region, including legacy and ongoing collateral requirements, premium allocations, broker and insurer billings, and certificates of insurance.
  • You provide senior insurance and risk-management advice to the Americas businesses, including guidance on risk-specific matters, insurance coverage, customer and project contracts and M&A transactions. You lead regional negotiations with insurers. You align material coverage and strategic decisions with the Global Head of Corporate Insurance.
  • You manage the performance of local insurers, brokers, third-party administrators and other external service providers, establishing clear expectations, monitoring service quality and ensuring timely and accurate delivery. You also coordinate regional insurance projects, risk-reduction initiatives, claims dashboards and other measures that improve transparency and operational effectiveness.
  • You support property risk management and loss prevention at production sites in the Americas, working with risk engineers and site leadership to assess property and fire exposures, prioritize the remediation of loss-prevention recommendations and implement fire and asset protection standards that strengthen business continuity.
  • You lead and develop the US-insurance team, setting priorities, allocating responsibilities and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. You represent the US within the Global Corporate Insurance organization and ensure effective cooperation across businesses, functions, countries and external partners.

Your qualifications and experience

  • You hold a successfully completed university degree in business administration, finance, law, engineering, risk management, insurance or a comparable field.
  • Alternatively, you have extensive relevant professional experience and recognized insurance or risk-management qualifications that provide an equivalent level of expertise.
  • You have 10+ years of relevant professional experience in corporate insurance, insurance brokerage, an insurance company, claims management or operational risk management.
  • You have strong knowledge of the US commercial insurance market and practical experience in designing, placing and renewing US workers’ compensation and automobile insurance programs.
  • You have sound experience in claims management, claims analytics, reserve reviews, actuarial coordination and the management of collateral related to deductible or self-insured insurance arrangements.
  • You are familiar with the operational management of casualty, property, workers’ compensation, automobile and other corporate insurance programs.
  • You have experience coordinating insurance-renewal processes, collecting and validating exposure information, supporting premium allocations and administering insurance-related billing and documentation.
  • You have practical experience reviewing contractual insurance requirements and providing insurance and risk-management advice to business stakeholders.
  • You have experience supporting M&A transactions, insurance due diligence or insurance-program separation and transition activities.
  • You have experience managing employees or small professional teams and enjoy developing people.
  • You have successfully coordinated complex projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders, often within demanding timelines.

Your attributes and skills

  • You combine a strong operational mindset with sound professional judgment and understand how regional insurance activities fit within a global corporate insurance framework.
  • You take ownership of your area of responsibility while recognizing global governance, decision-making authorities and escalation requirements.
  • You are highly organized, reliable and capable of managing multiple insurance, claims and project activities simultaneously.
  • You have strong analytical and conceptual skills and can translate complex claims, exposure and insurance information into practical recommendations.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently with business stakeholders, senior management, insurers, brokers, actuaries, auditors and other external partners.
  • You are skilled at coordinating stakeholders with different perspectives and at driving matters toward timely and practical solutions.
  • You demonstrate a collaborative leadership style and create an environment in which team members can contribute, develop and perform effectively.
  • You are proficient in the use of insurance data, claims information, dashboards and digital tools and are motivated to improve and standardize operational processes.
  • You have excellent written and spoken English. Additional language skills are an advantage.
