Role Summary

The Business Intelligence Group serves as a center of excellence for market data, insights, and decision support that enables Bloom’s commercial organization to act with greater speed and confidence. The Senior Manager, Market Research will lead the team responsible for tracking external market signals, developing segment and competitive intelligence, and translating research into account targeting, pipeline actions, executive briefings, and commercial decisions. This leader will set the research agenda, manage a team of analysts, establish rigorous sourcing and quality standards, and build reusable data and AI-enabled workflows that reduce recurring research time and improve the impact of the team’s outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Market and Segment Intelligence

·       Own the market research agenda across priority commercial segments, geographies, customers, competitors, technologies, and policy or regulatory developments.

·       Lead quantitative and qualitative analysis of market size, growth drivers, customer needs, competitive dynamics, emerging business models, and risks relevant to Bloom’s growth priorities.

·       Monitor external signals across power markets, utilities, data centers, commercial and industrial customers, supply chains, and competing onsite power technologies.

·       Translate complex market, technical, regulatory, and commercial information into clear implications, decision points, and recommended actions.

Intelligence Products and Executive Communication

·       Own the quality and delivery of recurring market intelligence products, including daily news and account briefings, segment strategy research, competitive intelligence, battle cards, and market dashboards.

·       Lead executive and customer briefing support, ensuring requests are prioritized, source-cited, accurate, and delivered within agreed service levels.

·       Create executive-ready presentations, research reports, and concise written syntheses for Commercial leadership, segment leaders, and Sales.

·       Ensure research drives follow-up action, including sales outreach, deeper analysis, executive discussion, or changes in account and segment priorities.

Data, Tools, and Research Operations

·       Build and maintain a reusable intelligence foundation that combines vetted external market data with relevant internal commercial and deal data.

·       Own the product roadmap for market research dashboards, data libraries, and repeatable analytical tools that serve as the team’s central research platform.

Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Partnership

·       Lead, coach, and develop a team of market research analysts; set clear priorities, roles, quality standards, and development goals.

·       Partner across Sales, Marketing, Energy Transition, Commercial Operations, Finance, Regulatory, Engineering, Strategy, and Customer Experience to frame questions and convert insights into action.

·       Serve as a trusted thought partner who can navigate ambiguity, challenge assumptions constructively, and build alignment across technical and non-technical teams.

Job Requirements

·       Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.

·       8+ years of experience in energy markets, utilities, distributed energy, power generation, consulting, corporate strategy, competitive intelligence, market research, or a related analytical field.

·       3+ years of experience leading and developing analysts or other research professionals and managing multiple concurrent workstreams.

·       Demonstrated knowledge of North American electricity markets and the ability to interpret utility, ISO/RTO, regulatory, customer, and competitive developments in a commercial context.

·       Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including market sizing, benchmarking, scenario analysis, data validation, and synthesis of incomplete or conflicting information.

·       Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or similar analytics and visualization tools is preferred.

·       Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to executive, commercial, and technical audiences.

·       Experience building repeatable research processes, data libraries, dashboards, or knowledge-management systems.

·       Experience applying AI tools to research, monitoring, synthesis, or data workflows with appropriate quality controls preferred.

·       Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize high-value questions, and deliver accurate work under tight deadlines.

Preferred Profile

·       Deep intellectual curiosity about energy markets, customer power needs, emerging technologies, and competitive strategy.

·       Strong business judgment and a bias toward turning research into practical commercial recommendations.

·       High standards for evidence, sourcing, analytical accuracy, and executive communication.

·       Comfort working across ambiguous topics where the answer must be developed from multiple data sources and stakeholder perspectives.

·       Collaborative, low-ego leadership style with the ability to coach talent and influence outcomes without relying on formal authority.
