About the role
NewsBreak is building ReelBee, an open short-drama distribution platform where any qualified creator or studio can self-publish, earn a transparent revenue share, and get real US audience insights. This is a CEO-sponsored, company-level initiative. As Senior Product Manager you will own the ReelBee consumer app (iOS, Android and Web): the viewing experience and the monetization system, plus short-drama entry points inside NewsBreak and Scoopz. We are hiring in parallel in the SF Bay Area (Mountain View) and Beijing.
What you'll do
- Own the hybrid monetization system (ad-unlock, coins and first-purchase offers, subscription and retention offers) benchmarked against DramaBox, ReelShort and NetShort; lift first-purchase rate, first-week subscription renewal and ARPDAU through A/B testing
- Own retention and the viewing experience: first-day path, binge and resume flows, push and Live Activity re-engagement; move D1/D7 retention
- Partner with NewsBreak/Scoopz product and client teams on in-app short-drama entry points, converting news users without hurting the core experience
- Align consumer-side placement rules with the algorithm team to scale winning titles in-app; align landing pages and first-open experience with the user acquisition team
- Plan iOS/Android/Web priorities and release cadence; coordinate engineering, design and data
- Define and track core metrics (retention, payment funnel, ARPDAU, subscription renewal); deliver weekly product reviews and decisions
What we're looking for
- 5+ years in mobile product management, including 2+ years on monetization or growth for consumer content, entertainment or subscription products (short drama, web fiction, comics, streaming, games or social); short-drama app experience preferred
- Deep understanding of paywalls, coin/episode unlock, subscriptions and ad-unlock; shipped A/B tests with quantified lift in payment or retention
- Strong analytics: funnels, cohorts and retention in Amplitude or similar; basic SQL preferred
- Thrives on weekly releases and daily stand-ups; runs multiple product lines independently
- A short-drama / vertical-video user with instincts for hooks, paywall placement and binge behavior
- English as working language; Mandarin a plus
Nice to have
- Hands-on with Apple/Google subscription policies, promotional offers, refunds and compliance
- Ad monetization product experience (rewarded video, mediation, eCPM)
- Distribution/placement strategy product experience
- 0→1 launch of a new app
