Business Description:
Blackstone Technology & Innovations (BXTI) is the technology team at the core of each of Blackstone’s businesses and new growth initiatives. Serving both internal and external clients, we work to build the next generation of systems that manage risk, create efficiency, and improve transparency within the firm and across our broad community of investors and portfolio companies.
BXTI is and entrepreneurial – our open, iterative design processes and rapid pace of development means that everyone on the team has the opportunity to make an impact from day one. We are problem solvers who can take projects from idea to implementation. We believe in active mentoring and developing excellence. We collaborate to find the best answers for our customers and for Blackstone. We are critical to the firm maintaining its competitive edge.
Role:
We're looking for a hands-on engineering leader to build and scale platforms that power finance and operations across Blackstone. You'll own architecture, delivery and reliability for enterprise-grade finance systems. These include process automation, calculation engines, data infrastructure, and integrations with the firm's upstream and downstream systems.
You'll work closely with Finance and Operations teams across the firm, including Real Estate and Private Equity. Together you'll replace manual and legacy processes with scalable, code-driven solutions.
Success means measurable gains in operational efficiency, such as less manual effort, faster close and reporting cycles, and the retirement of legacy tools.
Responsibilities:
- Own the architecture and technical design of finance and operations oversight, calculation and process automation platforms that support operations and finance teams across the firm.
- Write production code in Python and SQL, and build cloud-based services, APIs and data pipelines.
- Lead architecture and code reviews, making trade-offs across performance, scalability, maintainability and cost.
- Execute the migration of the legacy processes and tools that should move to modern, code-based platforms.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Product Managers and Data Engineering stakeholders to shape requirements, priorities and roadmap trade-offs.
- Set and enforce engineering standards for code quality, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and production support.
- Keep platforms reliable through monitoring, incident management, performance tuning and disaster recovery readiness.
- Work with Information Security and Risk to meet internal controls, audit and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and develop engineers, help with hiring, and set clear technical direction for offshore and affiliate teams.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with recent hands-on development in Python and SQL.
- A track record of designing and delivering enterprise-grade platforms in financial services, ideally in finance, accounting or fund operations.
- Strong background in application architecture, APIs, data pipelines and cloud-native development.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code and production operations.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers, including distributed or offshore teams.
- Work with senior stakeholders, clarify ambiguous requirements and make pragmatic trade-offs without compromising reliability.
- Experience applying AI or LLM-based tools to automate business processes.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field. An advanced degree preferred.
- Real estate or private equity experience, including performance calculations, deal lifecycle, forecasting and investor reporting preferred.
- Experience integrating with general ledger platforms, data warehouses and financial reporting systems preferred.
- Experience with workflow orchestration, distributed systems or DevSecOps practices preferred.
