About this job

As a Sr. F5 Delivery Engineer I, you’ll deliver secure, highly available application delivery and load-balancing services across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. You’ll engineer and optimize F5 BIG-IP solutions, manage traffic and SSL/TLS services, automate configurations, resolve complex performance and availability issues, and maintain compliance with federal security standards.

We know that you can’t have great technology services without amazing people. At MetroStar, we are obsessed with our people and have led a two-decade legacy of building the best and brightest teams. Because we know our future relies on our deep understanding and relentless focus on our people, we live by our mission: A passion for our people. Value for our customers.

If you think you can see yourself delivering our mission and pursuing our goals with us, then check out the job description below!

What you’ll do:

  • Configure and troubleshoot virtual servers, pools, health monitors, traffic policies, profiles, iRules, and SSL/TLS services.
  • Monitor performance and use advanced analytics to resolve latency, capacity, availability, and network configuration issues.
  • Engineer and optimize F5 services across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
  • Maintain high-availability and failover configurations supporting mission-critical applications.
  • Integrate F5 services with DNS, security platforms, applications, certificate services, and enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Automate configuration, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance using REST APIs, Ansible, Terraform, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, configurations, runbooks, workflows, change records, and operational procedures.
  • Communicate system status, technical risks, and recommended solutions to Government stakeholders and engineering teams.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Active Top Secret clearance (preferred but not required)
  • 10+ years of relevant enterprise network, systems, site reliability, or application delivery engineering experience in mission-critical environments.
  • Extensive direct hands-on experience administering and engineering F5 BIG-IP application delivery and load-balancing services, including system health, capacity, availability, and reliability.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting virtual servers, pools, health monitors, profiles, traffic policies, SSL/TLS services, high availability, and failover; iRules or equivalent traffic-management logic is strongly expected.
  • Experience monitoring performance and using advanced tools and analytics to isolate and resolve application delivery, network configuration, latency, capacity, and availability issues.
  • Experience evaluating, engineering, and recommending load-balancing, network optimization, and application acceleration techniques across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
  • Experience integrating F5 services with DNS, network security, applications, identity/certificate services, infrastructure platforms, and enterprise monitoring solutions.
  • Experience automating configuration management, monitoring, deployment, and maintenance using REST APIs, Ansible, Terraform, Python, PowerShell, or comparable tools.
  • Experience developing and maintaining accurate architecture diagrams, configurations, runbooks, workflows, change records, troubleshooting documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
  • Must satisfy the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the 451 System Administrator work role; no additional technical certification is required.
