About this job
Help lead how a complex, cross functional transformation comes together.
The Senior Project Manager will play a highly visible role within the NEXT PMO, partnering closely with the Head of NEXT PMO to lead the operationalization and ongoing evolution of the PMO framework. You’ll bring structure and clarity to complex, interconnected work, drive accountability across teams, and ensure senior leaders have the insights they need to make informed decisions and maintain momentum.
This role is ideal for an experienced project or program leader who is comfortable operating with a high degree of independence, navigating ambiguity, influencing across organizational boundaries, and turning complex program activity into clear direction and action.
Job Requirements
- Help lead and evolve the NEXT PMO, partnering with the Head of NEXT PMO to strengthen the framework, operating model, governance structure, and tools that enable successful execution.
- Own the integrated NEXT roadmap and cross workstream execution, maintaining visibility into milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, commitments, and critical path activities.
- Drive accountability and momentum across teams by proactively identifying gaps, challenging delivery assumptions, resolving ambiguity, and escalating barriers when necessary.
- Lead program governance and operating rhythms, establishing clear decision rights, checkpoints, RACI structures, controls, and standardized practices aligned with Citizens Transformation Office practices.
- Lead complex PMO and cross-functional discussions, guiding teams toward decisions, clear ownership, commitments, and timely action.
- Turn complexity into executive insight by developing program scorecards, dashboards, quarterly updates, executive narratives, and recommendations that clearly articulate progress, risks, decisions, and required actions.
- Anticipate risks and dependencies, looking beyond immediate deliverables to understand potential downstream impacts and proactively drive resolution.
- Influence across workstreams and functional teams without direct authority, constructively challenging stakeholders and helping teams navigate competing priorities and complex decisions.
- Continuously improve how the PMO operates, identifying and implementing opportunities to strengthen governance, simplify processes, improve transparency, and mature program execution.
- Use tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Excel to actively manage integrated plans and provide leadership with clear visibility into program health, execution risk, and critical-path impacts.
Qualifications
- Progressive project or program management experience, preferably within retail banking, branch operations, technology, workforce transformation, or large scale operating model change, with experience independently leading complex, cross functional initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience establishing or maturing PMO governance, integrated roadmaps, operating cadences, program controls, and executive reporting.
- Proven ability to take ownership of complex work, create structure from ambiguity, and independently drive initiatives toward decisions and execution.
- Strong ability to influence without direct authority, constructively challenge stakeholders, and drive accountability across multiple teams and levels of leadership.
- Experience owning complex, integrated program roadmaps encompassing milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, critical paths, and delivery commitments.
- Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills, together with experience using SharePoint and project or portfolio management platforms such as Jira or Microsoft Project.
- Strong executive communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into concise insights, recommendations, and decisions for senior leadership.
- A proactive, solutions oriented mindset and the judgment to know when to influence, when to challenge, when to make a recommendation, and when to escalate.
