Job Description

Location:

New York, NY

The Executive Director of Audience for Vogue will lead audience growth and engagement efforts across Vogue US, Vogue Runway, Vogue Business and Teen Vogue. They will set the overarching audience strategy for Vogue US across platforms; while remaining deeply involved in its execution. This role will serve as a strategic connector across editorial, product, consumer marketing, commercial, commerce and other key functions, championing audience priorities and ensuring alignment with our company KPIs.

As part of a global audience development team, the Executive Director will collaborate closely with international markets to share insights, align strategies and identify opportunities for growth. They will be able to interpret and communicate audience and performance data clearly across markets, translating insights into actionable strategies. Global collaboration and the ability to balance US priorities with international perspectives will be key to the role.

The Executive Director will bring deep subject matter expertise across SEO, newsletters, community engagement, content analytics, social platforms  and emerging distribution channels. They will use this expertise, alongside data-driven insights and a strong understanding of evolving audience behaviors, to identify opportunities for growth, establish priorities and guide content and distribution strategy across the organization.

This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role, requiring someone equally comfortable setting the strategic direction and playing a key role in delivering against it. Responsibilities will span developing and optimizing social and search strategies, managing strategic partnerships, overseeing email/newsletter initiatives, analyzing and reporting on performance, and identifying opportunities to drive commerce and subscription growth.

The Executive Director will champion a culture of experimentation, applying testing frameworks, competitive intelligence and internal and external insights to continuously optimize performance, while ensuring Vogue’s voice, authority and editorial standards remain at the center of audience growth.

A deep passion for and understanding of our audiences and core editorial categories is essential, as is the ability to operate effectively at the intersection of editorial, audience development, product, project management, consumer marketing and commercial strategy. The successful candidate will be both a strategic leader and an expert practitioner—combining analytical rigor with strong creative, editorial and commercial instincts to not only optimize existing audience channels, but also proactively identify new opportunities for growth. This includes staying ahead of competitor strategies, exploring innovative approaches to audience development, and forging partnerships that can expand our reach and deepen engagement. Ultimately, they will translate audience insight and a forward-looking, opportunity-driven mindset into actionable strategies that drive growth, strengthen audience relationships and enhance the long-term impact of the Vogue brand.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set and lead the audience development strategy across Vogue US, Vogue Business, Vogue Runway & Teen Vogue
  • Experience managing teams and training people; given the changing landscape of audience development and social media, specific experience helping employees navigate shifting priorities and imperatives is also a must.
  • Partner with global audience teams and markets to align strategies, share best practices and identify growth opportunities.
  • Build strategies for growing direct relationships with Vogue's most engaged audiences across newsletters, the Vogue app, events, and other community initiatives.
  • Direct Vogue’s annual audience forecasting and goal-setting process in strategic partnership with central analytics and executive leadership.
  • Establish the audience priorities and growth channels, serving as a senior authority and advocate for audience growth and engagement, helping align cross-functional leaders around shared objectives and ensuring audience strategy informs broader business priorities.
  • Provide strategic leadership on audience growth and engagement across all major channels, including search, social, newsletters and emerging platforms.
  • Partner with senior editorial leadership to shape content and distribution strategy, with product and technology leaders to define and prioritize capabilities, investments and initiatives that drive sustainable audience growth, engagement and performance.
  • Provide strategic audience leadership during breaking news, major cultural moments and key editorial tentpoles, bringing a holistic view of Vogue’s coverage and audience opportunities to inform editorial decision-making, maximize reach and engagement, and capitalize on high-impact growth moments.
  • Set and oversee a comprehensive testing and optimization strategy across the audience funnel, establishing priorities and frameworks for experimentation across distribution mix, headlines, imagery and other growth levers. Translate learnings into actionable insights that inform audience, editorial and product strategy and drive sustained growth.
  • Lead organic audience strategies for major Vogue tentpole events such as the Met Gala and Vogue World ensuring cohesive and timely execution across platforms and global markets.
  • Set the strategic vision and direction for the newsletter portfolio, partnering with editorial leadership to identify opportunities for innovation, audience growth, and performance optimization.
  • Partner with the Commerce team, acting as a senior authority to help maximize the distribution, reach, and commercial impact of commerce content across priority platforms, ensuring alignment with Vogue’s editorial vision and broader business objectives. Establish performance priorities and use insights to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Define, champion and identify emerging opportunities for audience engagement and growth, setting strategies that expand Vogue’s reach, deepen audience relationships, and strengthen its position.
  • Oversee competitive, audience, and market intelligence to anticipate shifts in consumer behavior and the media landscape, translating insights into strategic priorities and new growth opportunities across channels.
  • Manage the US Audience Development resource, providing guidance, support and feedback.
  • Represent Vogue as a leader both internally and externally, as appropriate.
  • Serve as a go-to senior leader and subject matter expert for Vogue Audience Development globally.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:
