About this job

ABOUT SLATE

At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.

| WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Slate sells direct to consumer. Every truck is reserved, designed, purchased and accessorized through channels we own: our website, vehicle configurator, online marketplace and app. That puts growth at the center of how Slate operates.

We’re looking for a Head of Growth to own the full customer funnel: from first visit to reservation, from reservation to order and delivery, and from delivery to accessories, wraps and referrals. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will lead performance marketing, lifecycle and CRM, conversion optimization and marketing analytics. You’ll be accountable for the numbers that matter most as Slate moves into its first customer deliveries and beyond: reservation-to-order conversion, customer acquisition cost, accessory attach rate and payback.

The ideal candidate has built and scaled growth for a direct-to-consumer brand with a considered purchase. You are as comfortable in a media plan as you are in an experiment readout or a funnel query, and you run a team that is fast, frugal and scrappy with every dollar.

| WHAT YOU GET TO DO

 Growth Strategy & Ownership

  • Own Slate’s growth strategy and targets across the customer lifecycle: awareness to order, order to delivery, and post-purchase accessories, wraps, service, loyalty, retention and referral.
  • Build and maintain the growth model and forecast in partnership with Finance; set targets for volume, CAC, conversion and payback, and report against them every week.
  • Own the paid media and growth budget, moving spend quickly toward what works and away from what doesn’t.
  • Partner with the Head of Marketing to turn brand and launch plans into measurable demand programs, and represent growth performance in leadership reviews.

Acquisition

  • Lead paid acquisition across search, direct, paid social, online video and CTV, programmatic, affiliate and emerging channels, with in-house and agency partners.
  • Build launch and regional demand plans that match vehicle availability, SI&OP, delivery geography and Slate’s regional service and wrap installation network.
  • Work with PR, Influencer and Brand teams to turn earned media, creator content, events and owner community into measurable acquisition.
  • Design and launch referral and owner-advocacy programs that make Slate owners part of the growth engine.
  • Partner with Fleet Sales on demand generation for small business and commercial fleet buyers.

Lifecycle, CRM & Retention

  • Own lifecycle marketing across email, SMS, push and in-app, guiding reservation holders through configuration, financing, order and delivery.
  • Grow post-purchase revenue through accessory, wrap and merchandise programs timed to the ownership journey.
  • Build audience segmentation and personalized journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

Conversion & Experimentation

  • Own the experimentation program across the website, configurator, reservation and checkout flows, with clear hypotheses, success metrics and guardrails.
  • Partner with Digital Experience Design, Product and Engineering to prioritize the funnel improvements with the largest impact on conversion.
  • Lead the CRO function, including test implementation, tooling and site performance during testing.
  • Work with eCommerce Merchandising to improve accessory discovery and attach rate across the marketplace.

Measurement & Analytics

  • Evolve a growth measurement stack leadership trusts: attribution, incrementality testing, media mix modeling and funnel dashboards.
  • Define north-star and channel-level growth metrics, and keep data definitions consistent across Marketing, Sales, Product and Finance.
  • Use AI and automation to speed up analysis, creative testing, demand projections, forecasting, demand modeling, and campaign operations.

Team Building & Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team spanning performance marketing, lifecycle and CRM, CRO and marketing analytics, hiring to fill capability gaps as Slate scales.
  • Select and manage agency, ad tech and martech partners with clear scopes, service levels and cost discipline.
  • Build a team culture of curiosity, speed and direct feedback, grounded in data and customer insight.

| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Required

  • 12+ years of experience in growth, performance or lifecycle marketing, including at least 5 years leading teams, with experience managing managers or leads.
  • A track record of scaling a direct-to-consumer business with a high-consideration purchase (automotive, EV, consumer hardware, mobility, home or financial products), with results you can quantify.
  • Hands-on ownership of a full-funnel growth model with budget accountability, including CAC, conversion, LTV and payback.
  • Deep expertise in paid acquisition across major platforms, along with lifecycle and CRM program design.
  • Experience running a disciplined experimentation program, with a working command of test design, statistical significance and incrementality.
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable working directly in GA4, Looker or similar BI tools, and in SQL or alongside analysts at the query level.
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a comparable ESP, CRM and CDP stack.
  • Clear, structured writing and communication, with the ability to present plans and results to executive leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred

  • Experience leading growth through a major product launch, ideally from pre-order or reservations through first deliveries.
  • Automotive, EV or direct-to-consumer vehicle experience.
  • E-commerce or marketplace experience with accessories, add-ons or attach-rate economics.
  • Experience with small business or B2B demand generation.
  • Multicultural or Spanish-language marketing experience.
  • Practical experience applying generative AI to marketing operations, creative testing or analytics.
