About this job
About David AI
David AI is the first audio data research company. We bring an R&D approach to data–developing datasets with the same rigor AI labs bring to models. Our mission is to bring AI into the real world, and we believe audio is the gateway. Speech is versatile, accessible, and human—it fits naturally into everyday life. As audio AI advances and new use cases emerge, high-quality training data is the bottleneck. This is where David AI comes in.
David AI was founded in 2024 by a team of former Scale AI engineers and operators. In less than a year, we’ve brought on most FAANG companies and AI labs as customers. We recently raised a $50M Series B from Meritech, NVIDIA, Jack Altman (Alt Capital), Amplify Partners, First Round Capital and other Tier 1 investors.
Our team is sharp, humble, ambitious, and tight-knit. We’re looking for exceptional people across every function to join us on our mission to push the frontier of audio AI.
About this role
We are hiring a Head of Marketing to build and lead our marketing function. You will own how we position David AI, bring our work to market, and create demand among the teams building audio AI. You will connect our datasets, evaluations, and research into a clear company story, supported by evidence that earns the trust of customers, researchers, and future teammates.
You will work closely with our founders and leadership team across functions to drive tangible results for David AI. This is a hands-on leadership role: you should be as comfortable interviewing a customer or writing a launch announcement as setting strategy, allocating budget for different marketing initiatives, and hiring your team.
In this role, you will
Develop our company story with the founders. Make our ambition, approach, and progress clear and consistent across the website, company presentations, founder communications, and recruiting materials.
Lead marketing campaigns around research, benchmarks, product releases, and company milestones. Develop the story and plan, bring together writing, design, video, and distribution, and carry the work through publication and follow-up.
Grow our reputation in the voice AI community. Develop company and founder channels, build media and industry relationships, and create opportunities through research events, podcasts, speaking, and partnerships.
Build our editorial program. Find original insights and useful examples through conversations with researchers, engineers, operators, and customers. Personally write and edit important pieces, from research explainers to customer stories, and help others communicate their expertise.
Help make our benchmarks a reference for the field. Work with Research, Product, and GTM on targeted outreach and follow-up that helps relevant model teams discover, use, and cite our work.
Strengthen our recruiting reputation with our People and Talent team. Show the caliber of our team, the difficulty and importance of our problems, and the opportunity to have an impact here through substantive stories and experiences.
Build and lead the marketing team.
Your background looks like
8+ years in marketing, communications, or a related storytelling role, including experience leading a team at a growing startup.
Exceptional writing and storytelling, demonstrated through work you personally created and published.
Experience working with technical experts. You can ask questions that get beyond the obvious, understand the substance, and explain it accurately without relying on jargon.
Strong editorial judgment. You know which stories are worth telling, what evidence they need, and which format and channel will help them reach the intended audience.
A track record of building an audience or earning meaningful attention for a company and its work through content, communications, PR, or community.
Experience hiring and developing people, managing creative work, and giving specific, useful feedback that makes the work better.
Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid pace; thrives in a “build while flying” environment.
Low-ego, collaborative, and mission-driven, focused on team and company success.
Bonus points if you have
Experience as a founder or storytelling role role at a high-growth startup.
Experience in AI, data infrastructure, marketplaces, or another technically complex business.

We sponsor international candidates across a range of visa types, including H-1B transfers, H-1B1, O-1, E-3, and TN, and we support STEM OPT. While we can’t guarantee any individual outcome, we’ve successfully sponsored teammates from all over the world.
