Job Description

The Manager, Product role will spearhead the product side of Enterprise Rights Management, including the strategy, roadmap, operating model, and execution of complex technology initiatives. The role combines senior product leadership, technical product management, and direct people management. It will lead and develop Product Managers and related product resources while partnering closely with Engineering, Architecture, Data, Security, Operations, and business stakeholders.

A primary focus will be the successful implementation and evolution of a modern Rights Management System (RMS), supported by integrated data capabilities, workflow automation, and responsible use of AI. The role must be able to translate business and rights-management needs into clear product direction, technically sound solutions, executable roadmaps, and measurable business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy and Portfolio Leadership
    • Define and drive the product vision, multi-year roadmap, priorities, and delivery strategy for RMS and the broader Enterprise Rights product portfolio.
    • Translate business objectives, operational pain points, and user needs into product capabilities, investment priorities, and sequenced delivery plans.
    • Provide oversight across multiple concurrent initiatives and workstreams, balancing strategic priorities, delivery dependencies, risks, and available capacity.
    • Establish clear product governance, decision rights, success measures, and communication practices across the portfolio.
    • Partner with senior stakeholders to align product investments with enterprise technology strategy and business outcomes.
  • Technical Product and Solution Leadership
    • Act as the senior product partner to Engineering, Architecture, Data, and platform teams throughout discovery, solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and adoption.
    • Guide product decisions involving SaaS platforms, enterprise integrations, APIs, data models, workflow orchestration, cloud services, security, and scalability.
    • Ensure business requirements are translated into clear product requirements, capabilities, epics, acceptance criteria, and implementation priorities.
    • Establish and reinforce effective use of Jira and Confluence for backlog management, requirements traceability, product documentation, decision tracking, and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Challenge assumptions, identify technical and process dependencies early, and help teams make informed tradeoffs across scope, value, timing, risk, and maintainability.
    • Provide product leadership for vendor evaluations, implementation partners, and third-party platforms where applicable.
  • RMS Implementation and Transformation
    • Lead the product side of the RMS implementation, including business alignment, capability definition, prioritization, roadmap management, readiness, and adoption.
    • Coordinate product activities across rights, content acquisition, legal, distribution, finance, operations, engineering, data, and other impacted functions.
    • Ensure RMS delivery is connected to the broader Rights ecosystem, including source systems, downstream consumers, reporting, integrations, and the enterprise data layer.
    • Drive transparent reporting of progress, decisions, risks, dependencies, and required leadership actions.
    • Promote sustainable product practices that support implementation delivery as well as long-term platform ownership and continuous improvement.
  • AI, Data, and Intelligent Automation
    • Define and prioritize opportunities to use AI, machine learning, automation, and advanced analytics to improve rights workflows, decision support, data quality, and user experience.
    • Partner with Data, Engineering, Legal, Privacy, Security, and business teams to evaluate AI use cases and move appropriate concepts from discovery into delivery.
    • Ensure AI-enabled product capabilities are grounded in reliable data, clearly defined business value, measurable outcomes, and responsible governance.
    • Champion reusable data and AI capabilities that complement RMS and strengthen the future-state Rights platform.
    • Monitor relevant technology trends and recommend practical opportunities for innovation without losing focus on core delivery commitments.
  • People Leadership and Product Operating Model
    • Directly manage, coach, and develop Product Managers and other product resources, setting clear expectations, priorities, and development goals.
    • Create a consistent product management operating model across discovery, planning, requirements, delivery, stakeholder engagement, and outcome measurement.
    • Lead the product delivery operating model across Agile teams, including roadmap planning, release planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, prioritization, capacity management, sprint execution, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement, adapting the approach to the needs of each initiative.
    • Assign ownership across initiatives and ensure Product Managers have the context, support, and accountability needed to lead their workstreams.
    • Build a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on customer value, technical credibility, transparency, and execution.
    • Assess team capacity and capability needs and recommend appropriate staffing, role design, and external support when required.
  • Stakeholder, Change, and Executive Communication
    • Serve as a primary product leadership contact for Enterprise Rights and represent the portfolio in cross-functional and leadership forums.
    • Facilitate alignment across business and technology teams, resolve competing priorities, and escalate decisions when necessary.
    • Communicate roadmap status, delivery health, risks, options, and recommendations in a concise and decision-oriented manner.
    • Partner with change-management, training, and operational teams to support adoption and successful transition to new capabilities.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies and product-delivery practices, including roadmap planning, release planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, prioritization, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
  • Hands-on experience using Jira and Confluence to manage product backlogs, document requirements and decisions, track delivery, and maintain clear communication across product, engineering, and business teams.
  • Scrum, Agile, or product management certification, such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), SAFe certification, or an equivalent credential, is preferred.
  • Practical understanding of AI-enabled products, automation, analytics, data governance, and responsible AI considerations.
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, prioritization, problem-solving, and organizational-change skills.
  • Experience in media and entertainment, rights management, licensing, content operations, intellectual property, or a similarly complex domain is strongly preferred.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Balances strategic thinking with hands-on delivery leadership.
  • Can move comfortably between business outcomes, product details, and technical discussions.
  • Builds clarity in ambiguous environments and creates structure across complex, interdependent work.
  • Leads through influence while also holding direct accountability for team performance and delivery.
  • Communicates risks early, presents practical options, and drives decisions to closure.
  • Develops talent and creates an environment in which product professionals can operate with ownership and confidence.
