POSITION OVERVIEW:

Disc Medicine is seeking a field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to cover the Mid-Atlantic territory (NJ, PA, DE, MD, DC, VA, WV, NC, and SC) and advance the medical objectives of its clinical development programs. The MSL will build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), institutions, and payers, serving as a scientific and clinical resource through peer-to-peer exchange. The MSL will also engage the scientific community to support research, publications, education, and the identification of unmet patient needs.

  • Identify and develop deep relationships with academic and community-based KOLs, HCPs, institutions and investigators across hematology, dermatology, hepatology, and the rare disease communities
  • Engage in compliant peer-to-peer scientific exchange on disease state, unmet medical need, and patient care challenges in erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP) and other hematologic diseases
  • Respond to unsolicited medical information requests and deliver reactive clinical data presentations in one-on-one and group settings

Clinical Research Support (~10%)

  • Support company-sponsored trials, investigator-initiated trials (IITs), research collaborations, and expanded access

Field Insights & Advisory Boards (~15%)

  • Gather and communicate actionable field insights from KOL and HCP interactions to inform Disc medical strategy
  • Plan and present at regional advisory boards within the territory, as applicable

Internal Collaboration & Compliance (~15%)

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional colleagues, including Clinical Development, Medical Information, Market Access and Commercial, and provide scientific training to internal teams as appropriate
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with applicable compliance, legal, and regulatory guideline

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced clinical or scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, DNP, or MSc) or equivalent professional credentials (NP, PA)
  • 3+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience as an MSL or in a related field-based medical affairs role
  • Experience in hematology, dermatology, or rare disease preferred; product launch experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts clearly to diverse audiences
  • Ability to develop and execute a territory medical plan, working effectively both independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Intellectually curious, professional, and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to critically evaluate and interpret scientific literature
  • Proven ability to build and sustain trusted relationships with KOLs and HCPs
  • Working knowledge of compliance and regulatory guidelines governing medical affairs activities
